Out of Print Clothing Review

Out of Print Clothing Review

Out of Print is a company that makes t-shirts, sweatshirts, and accessories with "out of print" classic books on them. What a neat concept! If you look over the shirts that they have, you will probably recognize almost every one of them. In fact, I have probably read about 7 of them when I was in school. The company says that with the way that the world is changing, the role of the book cover is unknown and they think that it is important to put the literary art on a shirt! For my review, I was sent the To Kill a Mockingbird shirt seen above for my husband.  The shirt is so soft and nice quality. My husband loves that book and think that it's a great shirt. It retails for $28 and with that purchase, donates one book to a person in need. Here is some information about the company and how they donate books to those in need: "In addition to spreading the joy of reading through our tees and accessories, we acknowledge that many parts of the world don’t have ac

Andean Dream Quinoa Products Review and Giveaway

Many of you have probably heard about the great benefits of quinoa. It is high in protein and is actually a complete protein which is unusual for a grain. Quinoa right now is being considered a "super food" even though it is a very ancient grain that has been around for thousands of years. I recently found a company called Andean Dream that makes different quinoa pastas and cookies.  I was excited to try these to see if they were tasty and if they were a good alternative to traditional wheat pastas and cookies for those who cannot have gluten.  I was sent some of the quinoa macaroni and spaghetti as well as the chocolate chip cookies, coconut cookies, and a few samples of the rest of their cookies. There were a couple products that I really loved. I didn't think that I would be a fan of the orange essence cookies but that actually became my favorite product. The orange flavor is subtle and the cookie was crunchy and buttery. The cookies are gluten free and do no

Glamour Dog Review

I swear my dogs always know when a package is for them! I was sent a couple of collars from Glamour Dog for my dogs Ava and Jaxen and they got excited as I was opening the package. As you can see on Model #1 above (haha), she is wearing a crystal personalized collar with her name on it. The collar retails for $17.95 and fits nicely. The letters slid on the collar easily and look nice. Ava is pretty much the head of my household so she has to have a glamorous collar like this one. Now Jaxen is completely the opposite of Ava.  He is a true man so I chose a camo collar for him. This collar retails for $9.95.  I like it a lot but wish that it was a bit wider on his neck. When choosing items from Glamour Dog, I found it to be hard to choose something because there are SO many different options. There are hundreds of collars, leaches, clothes, beds, etc. They have everything that you could ever want for a glamorous dog. I swear he completely did this on his own when I was tryin

Lucky Leaf Cranberry Cherry Crisp

Lucky Leaf Cranberry Cherry Crisp

Lucky Leaf pie filling is made through Musselman's who I have enjoyed working with for over a year now. I was sent some of their cherry pie filling and made a delicious dinner of BBQ pulled chicken and potatoes, roasted green beans, and cranberry cherry crisp. I actually have never made a crisp before and it turned out so well that I will definitely make it again. I wanted to make a nice Friday night dinner for my husband and I and was able to do so with the help of Lucky Leaf! Also, this recipe would be amazing for Thanksgiving. Cranberry Cherry Crisp Ingredients: Filling: 1 large can Lucky Lead Cherry Pie Filling 2 cups frozen unsweetened whole cranberries Topping 1/2 cup whole wheat flour 2/3 cup oats 2/3 cup crushed shredded wheat cereal 1/4 cup shredded coconut 1 tablespoon chia seeds 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon 1/2 cup brown sugar 1/2 cup cold butter 1/4 cup water Directions: 1. Lawash Review

Lawash Review

I first heard about these Lawash wraps at the Grand Rapids Gordon Food Show and became instantly interested.  The person who was working at the stand showed me how the breads can be crumpled into a ball and how they still would not rip. Since I am a huge fan of wraps, this seemed awesome! The other thing that really made me want to try these is that they are a local Michigan company. I love trying products from all over the country but finding a Michigan product makes me more excited than anything! These wraps are made in Dearborn, MI which is about 30 minutes from my parent's house. A few days ago, one of the people from Lawash called me up after I had emailed them and I explained my interest in their products.  They sent me a huge case of their products including the regular ones and the low-carb. Although I am not on a low-carb diet, I liked that the low-carb wraps were only 70 calories per large wrap. The regular ones are still good though at 110 calories. I was sent

Cheeky Umbrella Review and Giveaway

Cheeky Umbrella Review and Giveaway

Apparently, I received my Cheeky Umbrella at the most perfect time possible. It has been raining here for 48 hours straight. Since I have to take the dogs out at least 3 times a day, I have gotten great use out of it.  I was sent the long "It's Raining, It's Pouring" umbrella from Cheeky Umbrella for review. The Cheeky Umbrella that I received is by far the best quality one that I have ever used. I usually by the $3 umbrellas and finally got a great quality one. The handle is a slip resistant hook handle. It feels old fashioned because it's so long and I love it. It opens with the push of one button and is so sturdy. The other umbrellas that I've had in the past flip and break with strong wind and this one can make it through anything. The umbrella is also very easy to close and closes with a pull down. Also, it dries fast which is nice. The company sells tons of cute patterns and I love the colors of my new black and pink one. I am very impressed with

Rodan + Fields Skincare Review

I first became a fan of Rodan + Fields Unblemish line last year when I was sent some for a review. The line helped my husband's acne a ton and we were big fans. Well, we ran out of it so I asked the company if they would be willing to send some more for another review. Here is some information about the line: Clinically proven to combat the entire acne cycle, this sophisticated regimen helps unclog pores, clears breakouts and calms your complexion to keep pimples, blackheads and post-acne marks from making an unwelcome appearance on your face—and in your life. Since many acne sufferers have post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH), the remnant red/brown marks following a healed blemish, we offer UNBLEMISH Spot Fading Toner. However, if you are one of the lucky few who does not experience PIH, use our UNBLEMISH Clarifying Toner as an alternative. My Opinion : I love that this line comes with 4 products to fully be able to treat your acne.  They work well and help

Vitamins in Blue and Green Fruits

One of my favorite dietetics related topics is learning about different vitamins in foods.  I've already shared with you the nutrition in purple produce , orange and yellow fruits , and red fruits . This is the last of this series and it talks about vitamins in blue and green fruits. Enjoy! ***Everyone has probably heard about the antioxidants in blueberries but did you know that other foods such as green tea, chocolate, wine, beer, tomatoes, etc also contain many anti-oxidants? ***There are not too many green fruits but obviously there are tons of green vegetables. The vegetables with the darkest color usually pack the most vitamins and minerals. Some great ones are spinach, kale, broccoli, green peppers, etc. What are your favorite green and blue fruits and vegetables? I love spinach, kale, kiwi, and cabbage!

The site says "tuck your kids in bed and have a glass of Mommy Juice because you deserve it!   I was interested in how Mommy Juice came to be and here is what I found: "MommyJuice Wines was founded by Cheryl Durzy, a mom of 2 and 10+ year veteran of the wine industry in Sales and Marketing at Clos LaChance Wines. These wines were inspired by her young children that point to wine glasses everywhere claiming “That’s Mommy’s Juice!” Her vision includes bal

Mighty Leaf Iced Tea Review and Giveaway

Mighty Leaf Iced Tea Review and Giveaway

I first reviewed Mighty Leaf Tea last year and loved their chocolate mint tea. This time, Mighty Leaf sent me some of their iced teas including organic black, sunburst green, ginger peach, and calypso mango.  I had never tried these before and with this warm streak of October weather, wanted to try it. On Sunday, my husband and I knew that we were going to go on a bike ride so we made some of the calypso tea ahead of time. First, you do have to use boiling water for the tea and you pour that in. Then, you add the ice. The tea was quick to make and makes ½ gallon containers.   It also tasted great! It was slightly sweet and for my taste, did not need any sugar. It was refreshing and delicious. I am giving the box of organic black tea to my internship preceptor because she loves basic flavors of iced tea.  I will be able to enjoy the rest of the teas through the fall.  **Also, to receive 15% off, you can use the coupon code: summertea15 Giveaway The company is offe

Fennville Goose Festival

A couple of weeks ago, Troy and I went to the Fennville Goose Festival. It's only a few miles from our house and we had never been before. We rode our bikes down there and watched the parade and stopped and saw some horses on a farm.  Totally tricked out car  There was also a small farmer's market which I love!  Then, we met these beauties  That was as close as she would get to me but I loved her! Best picture of the day, this crazy horse rolling around. Quite a site to see! Do you have any festivals in your town?

The information is still up to date and relevant. What are your favorite orange and yellow fruits and vegetables? I love carrots, starfruit, bananas, pineapple, and peaches.

Gordon Food Show 2011

A couple of weeks ago, I went to the Gordon Food Show. It is an event where they have thousands of foods out for everyone to try in hopes that you will order their product for your school, hospital, restaurant, etc. The displays were beautiful and I just had to share them with you! Holy tomatoes! Tons and tons of mushrooms The best drink ever! I believe it was tea, apple cider, mint leaves, and fresh oranges. So refreshing. Feta and grape stacks This was about 5% of the breads displayed just to show you how much food there was And the best for last, banana split cheesecake! I also tried 5-10 other cheesecake bites including pumpkin, tiramisu, and much more. This event was so much fun and I left the show will a smile on my face and a VERY full belly! I guess that what 2 1/2 hours of straight trying samples will do to you. : )
