BD's Mongolian Grill Review and Giveaway

Friday night, Troy and I had the great opportunity to review BD's Mongolian Grill in Roseville, MI. The restaurant originated in Royal Oak, MI and has spread to other states across the country. If you don't know what Mongolian Grill is, it is a restaurant that has many different options to create your own stir-fry.
As a dietitian, I often look for healthy options at restaurants (and enjoy indulging at times too- see the dessert we shared below!). I was interested in investigating which healthy options that this restaurant had to offer.
First, we started off with a drink. I had sangria and Troy had Samuel Adams Boston Lager. Then, we went up to the salad bar and created a delicious salad. I liked the style that the vegetables were which was chopped into tiny pieces. They had lots of different toppings available.
They had two soup options: tomato bisque and clam chowder. The tomato bisque was thick and creamy. Tomato soup is my favorite and I loved this version. Troy really enjoyed the clam chowder as well.

Next, we created our entree. I put chicken, sirloin steak, a ton of vegetables, black beans and pad thai sauce. I used half of a little bowl of sauce since I try to limit sodium. The restaurant has the nutrition information available for the sauces letting you know how many calories each one has and other nutrition facts. This is a great option if you are watching your weight or other nutritional aspects. Also, there are plenty of options for vegetarians as well including a couple of meatless "meats" and beans.
Information is available which sauces are peanut free and gluten free. They can cook these foods separately for people with a peanut or gluten allergy. This is a wonderful option for those who need to avoid these foods and are worried about having their food contaminated by peanuts or gluten.

My meal was very tasty. I loved that it was full of vegetables and the meat was cooked perfectly. You don't just to go BD's for the food, you go for the show. When you finish creating the bowl, the chefs cook your food in a very fun way. They flip it all around, shout out fun things and really make it a great time. In fact, one of the chefs put my plate of food on his head and flipped a piece of broccoli onto my plate!! It was very neat.
Troy created a more Southwest meal with fajita sauce, tomatoes, New York steak, corn, peppers and many more fun ingredients. He really enjoyed his meal as well.

We finished the meal by sharing this incredible dessert seen above. It has an Oreo crust, espresso ice cream and hot fudge. As you can tell by the picture, it was huge! Not the healthiest option but definitely delicious.

Troy and I enjoyed everything that we ate here. The service was excellent and the staff was easily available to answer any questions. I had never been to BD's Mongolian Grill before and will definitely be coming back. Also, they have a lunch special for $7.49 which caught my eye. Check out this restaurant for a truly customized, tasty meal.
