Happy Easter!

Happy Easter!

As you may remember, Easter is my favorite holiday. My family has so many traditions that I look forward to every year. Easter 2011   Along with the happy thoughts of Easter comes some sad ones. Easter always reminds me of my Dzia-Dzia (grandpa in Polish) who passed away. We used to make a huge fruit salad together until he passed away. I carried this tradition on and make it myself. It is something that I would never stop doing and means a lot to me. My fruit salad!!   This dietitian LOVES fruit!   My brother and Busia (grandma in Polish) make a lemon coffee cake. My Busia and sister make potato salad. Dad makes ham. Mom makes a lamb out of butter. Then, we take the food to be blessed at church. We have followed these traditions for many years now and I love them! Easter also means the start of decent weather (usually) which is always a happy time for me. I wish all of you a wonderful Easter with your families!

EzyDog Review and Giveaway

My dogs love getting products to review for the blog. I don't know if their packages always smell like animals but they always know when something is for them. EzyDog is a company that sells all kinds of products for your pet's needs. For Jaxen and Avas review, we were sent the Soft Trainer Lite Leash and the Vario 4 Lite. Both of these seem like great quality leashes. We have already tested them out a couple of times since the weather is finally getting nicer. The soft trainer lite retails for $18 and comes in a variety of colors. I chose the blaze orange for Jaxen since he thinks he is a hunter ; ). This features an extra traffic handle near the collar so that you can get quick control of your pooch in high traffic areas (or if anyone is coming near in my case because of my killer dogs). The leash is 6 feet long and has a soft handle to hold. I really like this leash! Ava was able to review the Vario 4 Lite leash in candy. What lite means is that it is for sm

Lucy Activewear Review

Lucy is a high end, women's activewear company. They sell all kinds of products including jackets, pants, shorts, tanks, dresses, skirts and accessories. They are pricier than some other brands but from what I had heard in the past, are great quality. For my review, I was sent the bootcamp beauty tank which retails for $59.00. It has a t-back halter and a shirring at the bust. It is nice and thick material and is stretchy. It is made of moisture wicking power fabric. It fits my body well and stays put during a workout. It has a bra on the inside which is nice. It provides some support and was enough for me that I did not need to wear a sports bra with it. The shirt is good quality and I will use it for walking, running and my workout videos. Here are some of my other favorites from Lucy: Divine Power Yoga Jacket Pack and Dash Ultimate Short Novelty Balance Top For great activewear, check out Lucy.

BBQ Pretzel Chicken
March 28, 2013

BBQ Pretzel Chicken

This recipe is so simple, yet very delicious. My husband and I really enjoyed it. BBQ Pretzel Chicken Ingredients: 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, sliced thin 1/3 cup BBQ sauce (my favorite is Open Pit Original) 1/2 cup crushed pretzels (you could crush these in a food processor or by hand with a meat mallet) Nonstick spray Directions: 1. Marinate chicken breasts in BBQ sauce for at least two hours. 2. Pour crushed pretzels onto a plate and cover chicken breasts in pretzel crumbs. 3. Spray a pan with nonstick spray. Once hot, add chicken breasts. 4. Cook chicken about 3 minutes on each side. Pay close attention because pretzels may stick to pan. Since the chicken breasts were so thin, I did not have much of a problem with the pretzels sticking to the pan. This easy meal will be made again soon in my home! Also, as you can see in the pictures, we had steamed artichokes on the side. So good!

They never contain MSG, corn, soy, gluten, dairy or eggs. Here are some my favorite snacks that I was sent: - Bare Fruit Cinnamon Apple Chips - these were awesome! Many apple chips have added sugar and fat but these do not. - Health Warrior Chia Bar - I have tried these a few times and love them! Dansko Shoe Review

Dansko Shoe Review

I have been hearing about Dansko shoes since I started working in health care. Tons of people that work at the hospitals wear these shoes because they are professional and comfortable. I have been wanting to try them for some time. Last summer, I actually found a pair in my size at a resale shop for $4.00! I bought them and have been loving Dansko shoes since. I have heard nothing but amazing things about this company and how their shoes are high quality and last a long time. For my review, I was sent the Dansko Black Nappa shoes. These shoes also come in a brownish tan color. The shoes have a zipper in the front and is perfect for spring and summer. They have holes throughout which makes them lighter than most winter shoes. These are very comfortable. I have worn them three times to work so far with no issues. They provide hidden support and have flex construction which bends with the foot. It has a hidden heel of 1 1/4 inches. I ordered a size 39 which is an 8 1/2-9. I

Detour Bar Review

Detour Bar Review

In the past, I had reviewed Detour bars and loved them. I was contacted recently by the company to try their new neapolitan protein bar. I was also sent a box of their lower sugar caramel peanut bars to try. This bar is the first neapolitan protein bar on the market and has a rich milk chocolate soft set layer sandwiched between a creamy vanilla nougat core and a sweet strawberry nougat core. One bar has 170 calories and 15 grams of protein. I liked this bar and it tasted dessert-like. It was not my favorite of these bars but was pretty good. The protein content and calories are pretty good and in line with other bars that I eat. The lower sugar caramel peanut bar is so good! It is so similar tasting to a candy bar but is full of protein. The calorie and protein content is the same as in the neapolitan bars. I loved the crunchy peanuts and the creamy caramel. This bar and the peanut butter cream are my two favorite Detour bars.

Skinny Zucchini Pesto Pizzas
March 21, 2013

Skinny Zucchini Pesto Pizzas

My husband and I love zucchini pizzas because the toppings seem to be more flavorful when on the zucchini than when on bread. They are much lower in calories using zucchini instead of dough. If you have not tried using zucchini to make pizza, I highly recommend it! Skinny Zucchini Pesto Pizzas Ingredients: 2 large zucchini 4 tablespoons pesto (I used jarred basil pesto and jarred sun dried tomato pesto) 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese 1/3 cup turkey pepperoni 1/4 chopped onion Directions: 1. Slice zucchini in long 1/2 inch thick slices and place on a pan covered in nonstick spray. 2. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. 3. Spread pesto over slices of zucchini. 4. Sprinkle cheese over sauce and then top with pepperoni and onions. 5. Bake for 10-15 minutes in oven until cheese is melted and zucchini is soft. Enjoy! These will need to be eaten with a fork because they can be a bit messy. These are a family favorite and will be made again soon. ______

eShakti Clothing Review

eShakti Clothing Review

I first reviewed a dress from eShakti  about 2 1/2 years ago and loved it! I still wear it often. This time, I was able to choose something from their new spring collection. This collection has many beautiful pieces of clothing and I had a hard time choosing what I wanted to review. I was sent the Aurora dress from eShakti . I love this yellow, beige and gold rose dress. It retails for $89.95. I plan to wear it for Easter this year and can also wear it to work. It has beautiful pleats and a scooped neckline. This dress fit me well in my normal size. It hit below the knee which I do wish that it was a bit shorter but like it this way as well. In case you do not know about this company, they carry sizes 0-36W. They can create custom sizes based on your measurements which is so rare to find these days. I just stuck with a regular size since my measurements were very close to the measurements of that size. Also, a big thanks to my model Jaxen for taking these pictures

This weekend, I worked hard to update my Recipe Page with all of my new recipes. My husband and dad who are more casual runners like them too. I used to run track and cross country but after high school, basically stopped. In the last 4 months, I have picked up running again! I do not run very regularly but enjoy to do a bit of running a few times a week. I am thinking about lacing up the new running shoes and running a race this summer. It's been about 6 years since I have run in a race and I am feeling like I may want to give it a shot again. I was recently sent the Brooks Trance 12 running shoes to try out. I love the pink and black design on these shoes. I wear a size 9 typically and the size 9 Brooks fit perfectly. They are very comfortable and did not take any time to break in. These shoes

Saturday Night Karaoke

Saturday Night Karaoke

On Saturday night, my brother, sister, her boyfriend, my husband and I decided to head out to a bar to sing some karaoke. For the people who know me, they know that this is not like me at all. I typically am quite shy and would not be caught dead singing in public. Sometimes, I come out of my comfort zone and try new things. In this case, I decided to sing karaoke and we had an excellent time! Our entire group sang at least a couple songs each and loved it. We sang and danced around. I can’t wait to do it again! Yes, that is definitely Spice Girls that you see my sister and I singing! Have you ever sang karaoke? What is your favorite song to sing to?
