Running Chics Review

I have done a couple of Running Chics reviews in the past and love those items to this day. I wore the shorts that I received 3 years ago this morning on my run and they are still in perfect condition. For this review I was sent the Running Chics triblend long sleeved pullover with thumb holes in charcoal. As I have written about recently, I have gotten back into running in the last few months. As much as I want to believe that the fall and winter are a long way away, I know that is not true. This pullover will be perfect for running in the cooler fall and winter temperatures. My typical size fits well and is a nice lightweight material. This sweatshirt retails for $45. It is available in black, 2 shades of grey and navy. You have the option of getting any of the logos on it that you like such as triathalon chic, swimming chic, teaching chic, nurse chic, etc. In the colder months, I really do like thumbholes for running. I have not run in the winter in some time and I can

Enlightened Ice Cream Review and Giveaway

In the summer, I want ice cream every.single.day! Many ice creams are of course high in calories, high in sugar and high in fat. I love finding new healthier options and Enlightened ice cream is a great option. I was sent a variety of their three flavors: fudge, coffee and orange cream. Hearing that this ice cream is good for you, you would not think that it is very satisfying but that would be way wrong on these. These are very, very creamy and filling too. Each bar is pretty large and only has 70 calories. Each bar has 8 grams of protein, 5 grams of fiber, 3 grams of sugar and is low in fat. They contain 20% of your daily calcium recommendations. They do not contain any artificial sweeteners and use rBST-free milk. Enlightened ice cream is a healthy choice that tastes great. These bars are very delicious! My sister tried the coffee one and loved it. My sister-in-law to be tried the fudge and liked it as well. My favorite was the coffee. It is very filling and seems rich. My

Nexxus Youth Renewal

I have always kept my hair routine very, very simple: shampoo, condition and about 2-3 times a month, blow dry. I do not add any products after my shower and  rarely do any hair masks or deep conditioners. My hair is long and straight but could probably use some help. It is pretty dry and often has some breakages.     My hair blow dried for a work red carpet event. Nexxus Youth Renewal is a line of products that is made for anti-aging for your hair. It helps stop the 8 signs of aging hair including volume loss, roughness, less shine, dryness, unruliness, breakage, brittleness and loss of color vibrancy. It is supposed to help your hair look younger by replenishing it and revitalizing it.  As a dietitian, I take particular interest in foods that help with anti-aging. Some of these include fresh produce that are rich in antioxidants, omega-3 rich fish, whole grains and green leafy vegetables. I find it important to follow anti-aging tips to feel good on the inside and the out

Almondina Review and Giveaway

Almondina is a favorite snack of mine and have reviewed them twice before here on the blog. Almondina cookies are very thin, long cookies that are filled with almonds and come in many different flavors. For my review, I was sent a variety to try. Since I have already tried Almondina cookies myself, I decided to have all of my family sample them. My sister and I shared the Chocolate Cherry Almondina cookies. We both love them. I think that the tart cherries taste awesome with the chocolate and almonds. My sister really enjoyed them as well. I had my mom and dad tried the Choconut cookies which they really liked too. These cookies are only mildly sweet and are filling due to the almonds throughout. Four cookies are only about 130 calories which is pretty good. I actually love all of the flavors of Almondina cookies including the Original and Cinnaroma. Each cookie on average only has 30 calories which is very low. They have no added fat or salt. These cookies are made with rea

Salad Nicoise and Heinz Vinegar

Salad Nicoise and Heinz Vinegar

My mom has been making Salad Nicoise for years and it is easily one of my favorite recipes. I had a craving for this salad the other day and this is what I came up with. Typical salad nicoise contains tuna, salmon and eggs but this version does not. You could always add those ingredients on top if you wish. This salad nicoise is vegan, gluten-free and very healthy. I participated in a campaign on behalf of  Mom Central Consulting  for Heinz Vinegar. I received a product sample to facilitate my review and as a thank you for participating. Salad Nicoise Serves : 1 Prep and cook time : 10 minutes Ingredients:  Salad: 1 medium baked potato, diced 1 medium tomato, chopped (I used red and yellow tomato) 3 low-sodium olives, chopped 1/2 cup raw green beans, chopped 1/2 cup red romaine lettuce, torn into bite sized pieces 1 green onion, diced Dressing: 1 tablespoon Heinz Filtered Apple Cider Vinegar 1/4 tsp garlic powder 1/2 tsp Dijon mustard 1/4 tsp black peppe

3 Ingredient Grilled Chicken Parmesan

3 Ingredient Grilled Chicken Parmesan is super easy to make and is a recipe that your whole family will love! For my husband's birthday, he requested chicken parmesan. As a dietitian, I am always trying to make meals healthier. It was actually my mom's idea to grill the chicken parmesan instead of breading it and frying it. This made the chicken parmesan healthier, lower in fat and calories. Try this 3 Ingredient Grilled Chicken Parmesan for an amazing meal! The grilled flavor really added to this meal. It turned out excellent and my entire family enjoyed it. My dad's favorite meal is chicken parmesan and he was amazed how quick the recipe came together and how little he missed the breading. Triple Bar Review

Triple Bar Review

1. Kind  Maple Glazed Pecan and Sea Salt and Dark Chocolate Chili Almond Bars I absolutely love Kind bars. I was first introduced to them a couple of months ago when I reviewed them here on the blog. These bars are very tasty, have unique flavors, are very low in sugar and are full of real ingredients. Kind bars are gluten free and do not contain any funky ingredients. Both of these new bars are delicious! The Kind Maple Glazed Pecan & Sea Salt tastes just like those maple flavored candies. My dad loves those so I am going to give him one of these to try. I had it for a snack and loved how many almonds were in it since I love almonds. One bar is 210 calories, 6 grams of protein, 5 grams of fiber and only 5 grams of sugar.  The Kind Dark Chocolate Chili Almonds Bars are very good as well and only contain a very small amount of spice. It added nicely to the chocolate and nuts. I would highly recommend both of these bars. 2. Can Do Kid Bars These bars come with

Blurb Cookbook Review

Blurb Cookbook Review

On The Nutritionist Reviews, I love creating healthy recipes to share with all of you. Many times, I forget about these recipes and never make them again. I was offered to create a cookbook from Blurb and write about my experience. To create this cookbook, I went through all of my recipes on The Nutritionist Reviews and included my favorites in the book. Since I always want to be honest with my readers, I did not have an easy time creating this cookbook.  It took 4 hours of solid work to create this cookbook. When I was almost finished, the formatting somehow became messed up and moved half of each recipe to the next page. I had to go an re-do everything. It was stressful and irritating. I contemplated whether or not I should write about my experience with Blurb but when I got the cookbook in the mail, I was very happy with it. It made the bad experience that I had pretty worth it having a cookbook with my own recipes in my hands. I was able to choose my own layouts of each

Grilled Summer Squash Packets

Grilled Summer Squash Packets

I was recently sent some Chosen Foods avocado oil to review and I decided to create this fun summer recipe with it. My parent's garden is overflowing with zucchini and summer squash so I combined the two for this tasty recipe of grilled summer squash packets. Avocado oil has a similar profile to olive oil. It has a clean, mild flavor. It is mostly made of monounsaturated fats. It was a great addition to this recipe. Nothing like fresh summer produce! Grilled Summer Squash Packets Ingredients: 2 small-medium summer squash sliced 1 small-medium zucchini sliced 1 1/2 tablespoons avocado oil 1/2 large onion, sliced 3/4 teaspoon garlic powder Directions: 1. Combine all ingredients on aluminum foil and create a "packet"- fold all sides up. 2. Place packet on hot grill. 3. Let packet of vegetables cook for about 5-8 minutes on each side (check a couple of times that it is not sticking or burning). 4. Vegetables are done once they are soft. Thes

Sesame Soy Grilled Salmon

Until recently, I was not too big of a fan of seafood. In the last few years, I have started to enjoy it more and more. I was contacted to be part of Copper River Salmon's blogging program where I am sent salmon to try and create a recipe using it. I had never tried grilled salmon before and it was way too hot to turn on the stove or oven so I created this recipe for grilled salmon. Sesame Soy Grilled Salmon Ingredients:  3 4 ounce pieces of fresh salmon 1 tablespoon sesame oil 1 tablespoon low-sodium soy sauce 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder 1/2 teaspoon onion powder 1/2 teaspoon black pepper Directions:  1. Combine soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic powder and onion powder in a bowl. 2. Pour over salmon and let marinate for a couple hours. 3. Heat grill and cook salmon for 3-4 minutes per side. 4. Serve immediately and enjoy! This salmon came with the skin on which peeled off very easily after grilling. This recipe was very tasty and my husband and I both enjoyed

Snapea Crisps Review

Snapea Crisps Review

I had first tried Snapea Crisps about a year ago when I found them at my local grocery store and tried a bag. They are crunchy, salty and satisfying as a snack. I find them to be very addictive and have to portion out a serving or else, I will honestly eat most of the bag. I was recently sent a variety of each of their flavors to try. They recently got a new design which I love! Snapea Crisps  are made of green peas, corn oil, rice, salt, calcium carbonate and vitamin C. They are gluten free. They have 120 calories for 22 crisps, only 80 mg of sodium in the lightly salted version, 3 grams of fiber and 4 grams of protein. I am someone who loves to have a salty snack and these lightly salted variety are perfect. I love to eat my Snapea Crisps plain but you can use them as a salad topping as well. The tomato basil flavor was tasty as well and has a lot of flavor in each bite. These are made with lentils instead of peas but have a similar texture and flavor. The caesar ones are v

Pacific Foods Milk Review and Giveaway

Pacific Foods is a company that sells non-dairy milks, soups and broths. For my review, I was sent 4 non-dairy milks to try including unsweetened soy milk, 7 grain, ultra soy and hemp milk. I wanted to try some new-to-me varieties since variety is the spice of life.  I decided to incorporate the unsweetened soy milk into a pancake recipe that I created. They turned out well but I did not take a picture since my pancakes never turn out picture perfect.  Oatmeal Pancakes Ingredients:  1 1/4 cup rolled oats 1/4 cup whole wheat flour 1 cup soy milk 1/3 cup pureed fruit (I used apricots but you could use applesauce too) 2 eggs 2 tsp baking powder 2 tablespoons chia seeds 1 tablespoon oil Nonstick spray Directions: 1. Living Nutz Review

First of all, I would like to wish my husband Troy a very happy birthday!  We are up north at my parent's farm celebrating! ______________________________________________________________________________ Living Nutz is a company that sells all different kinds of flavored nuts. I think that nuts are a great snack as they are full of healthy fats, fiber and protein. For my review, I was sent these three flavors of nuts to try: bodacious banana bread walnuts, Tahitian vanilla coco creme walnuts and celestial cinna pecans. All three L:iving Nutz flavors are very tasty but I have to say that my favorite flavor is definitely the banana bread walnuts. They honestly taste just like fresh cooked banana bread. They are a big treat to snack on! They are made of all organic ingredients including walnuts, bananas, agave, cinnamon and celtic sea salt- no  artificial ingredients. The cinna pecans were also very tasty and I loved they they had a thick layer of cinnamon sugar on th

Perfectly Simple ZonePerfect Review

I love trying all kinds of nutrition bars! I was recently sent some Perfectly Simple ZonePerfect Nutrition bars to try and review on my blog. The big catch to these bars is that they only contain 6-8 ingredients total! Compared to most bars which contain many more ingredients, that is amazing. I was sent two kinds of bars to try toasted coconut and peanut crunch. The bars are gluten-free and contain 10 grams of protein. My favorite of the bars was the Perfectly Simple ZonePerfect peanut crunch bar. This bar has 190 calories, 3 grams of fiber, 8 grams of fat and 14 grams sugar. The ingredients include: peanut butter, cane syrup, soy protein isolate, date paste, rolled oats and coconut. They have a strong peanut butter flavor which I loved. My husband liked this one as well. You could not really taste the coconut in it. The bar was filling and makes a perfect snack or dessert. The Perfectly Simple ZonePerfect toasted coconut bars were tasty too. Each bar contains 200 calories
