Hilary's Veggie Burgers Review and Giveaway

Hilary's Eat Well Burgers
I love veggie burgers. I am not a vegetarian or anything but do not eat much meat. I was recently sent some free product coupons from Hilary's Eat Well vegetarian burgers and redeemed them at my new Whole Foods near my home. I purchased one of each kind of veggie burger to try.

Since my husband loves flavors like chili and cumin, I made him the adzuki bean burgers. For me, I made the veggie burger. These are gluten-free, dairy-free, soy-free and egg and corn free. Each burger is about 200 calories. I decided to grill these and they turned out very well!

I just sprayed each frozen veggie burger with a bit of nonstick spray and placed them right on the grill. They held their shape well and we ate them on buns with tomato, lettuce and onions. Both burgers were very tasty. They are made with millet, quinoa, spinach, onion, garlic, coconut oil and other natural ingredients. No artificial ingredients or chemicals.
World's Best Veggie Burger
I made extra of these Hilary's veggie burgers and had them for lunch at work. One day, I ate one over a salad and the other day, I had them over cooked collard greens.

The only negative thing that I have to say about these is that they only have 4-5 grams of protein which is  not enough to keep me full. These burgers are heavier on the carbohydrates. To increase protein, you could add a bit of beans or chicken on a salad with a veggie burger to increase your protein. Each burger has 4 grams of fiber which is good.

I enjoyed trying these Hilary's burgers and would purchase them again.

  1. The Adzuki Bean Burger sounds great for me. I'm not against the veggie burger, but the adzuki sounds like it has a little more pop, so I'd roll with that one first.

  2. It used to be you could only purchase Hilary's "The World's Best" veggie burger at her restaurant, Local Burger (which is no more, unfortunately) in Lawrence, Kan. It was SO good! They'd serve it hot and crisp with thinly sliced tomatoes, pickles, lettuce (plus ketchup and mustard) on a wheat bun. I recently bought some of these at Whole Foods here in Boulder and was transported back to my college days in KS-- my boyfriend, an adamant carnivore (who actually didn't set foot near Local Burger back in the day), was impressed by how tasty they are. Their merit is in not trying to imitate meat ... they're "honest" veggie burgers, comfortable in their own, er, skin. :)

Another great thing at Local Burger was a TLT salad ... cubed tofu coated in nutritional yeast atop a salad with tomato and avocado. It was really yummy, too.
