A Trip Back in Time to Greenfield Village

Starting when I was little, my family would take me to Greenfield Village . It is located in Dearborn , MI and is a great place to go. Greenfield Village is like a huge outdoor museum that you can walk around and learn all about history. My husband and I have wanted to go to Greenfield Village for years and finally had the opportunity. We were provided tickets to Greenfield Village to experience an event that they had going on called Fall Flavor Weekends. Greenfield Village is an 80 acre outdoor area that is described as “stepping into a time machine”. There are 83 historic structures and buildings that you can go in to learn about all different kinds of things. For example, you can go into Noah Webster’s home which is the man that wrote the first dictionary. You can go into Thomas Edison’s Menlo Park laboratory and learn all about what he did. You have the opportunity to ride around in a Model T car around the property. My personal favorite part about Gr

Cariloha Bamboo Review and Giveaway

Cariloha is a company that makes all kinds of bamboo products. I have done several reviews on different products made from bamboo and have really liked their long, lasting quality. This company is no different! Their products seem to be very good quality. Cariloha makes many different items including bed and bath products, men and women’s clothing and all kinds of accessories. For my review, I was sent the eggplant kyle wrap, taupe bamboo throw and the women’s ankle socks.  Of course when the camera comes out, they have to start playing! The taupe bamboo throw is awesome! It is incredibly soft. My dogs have already taken over this blanket. In the winter, I am honestly under a blanket most of the time I am home (maybe it has to do with the fact that we only keep our house at 63 degrees!). This blanket will be so perfect to cuddle up with the pups with. In my experience, I have found bamboo socks to be the longest lasting. This pair is very soft, stre

Sherpa Pet Carrier Review and Giveaway

How my dogs always know when a package is for them is beyond me! Ava and Jaxen were recently sent a ParkTote pet carrier to review from Sherpa. Quaker Pet Group is a company that sells pet travel accessories and recently came out with pet carriers. This carrier is really neat! It comes in leopard or zebra pattern and comes in different sizes depending on the size of your pet. It has zippers that let you convert the carrier to a flat blanket for the pet. You can zip the carrier up in different ways including leaving the top uncovered (Ava loves this) or closing it up all the way for travel. The Park Tote has a mesh top entry which my dogs did not seem to mind when it was zipped all the way up. The entire carrier is machine washable and the whole thing can be thrown right into your wash machine. The carrier retails for $56. This is a well liked carrier for my dogs. I have it out in my house and the dogs like to go lay in it. Giveaway The giveaway will be for a Sh

Kevita Probiotics, Good Karma Flax Milk and Click Protein Review

KeVita Probiotics Review I have tried and reviewed a lot of products (over 1,200!). This product is one that absolutely blew me away. This KeVita drink is a sparkling probiotic beverage. It helps to restore the healthy bacteria in your gut. One serving is only 5 calories. The Mojita flavor is honestly one of the best drinks I have ever had. I got this from Whole Foods and am addicted now. They are so fresh tasting and I love the carbonation. They are sweetened with stevia and are certified organic. I highly, highly recommend the new Mojita flavor- try it and let me know what you think. Good Karma Protein + Flaxmilk Good Karma makes a unique product which is a milk make from flax. One cup of this milk is only 50 calories and has 5 grams of protein. It is a new product and comes in original flavor and vanilla. Both of these flavors are good. I have been drinking them in my coffee and like them. They taste similar to almond milk compared to any other milk. They also have 12

I love artichoke dip and was sent hot parmesan and artichoke dip seasoning mix from Canada . This will make a tasty appetizer. The soy bites breadsticks are from the US and make a fun snack. I do usually prefer whole wheat pasta but this pasta is okay for on occasion and is a fun shape with different colors from Italy . I love the bottle for the Pachino cherry tomato sauce. This sauce is from Sicily and will be fun to eat with the pasta. I had fun trying these diff

Wicked Halloween Run

Wicked Halloween Run

Troy and I were recently provided free admission into the Wicked Halloween Run from the Kona Running Company in order to blog about it. All opinions are my own. Sunday October 27th, Troy and I participated in a great event called the Wicked Halloween Run . It took place in Plymouth, MI which I had never been to before. It was in a cute little downtown area. When we arrived, there were thousands of runners everywhere which was awesome. There was a huge set-up including a warming tent, food tent and little tents that you could get your prizes from, etc. Since it was almost Halloween, tons of people were dressed in costume- next year! You could choose to run the 5k or 10k event. Troy and I did the 5k. The event was pretty well run and we went to register first in the gym. One of the things that was really unique about this run is that it came with a nice long sleeved tech shirt (the one Troy is wearing). Most of the times, races just come with a simple white t-shirt.

Bestowed Box Review

I have worked with Bestowed a couple of times in the past and enjoyed trying their snack boxes . They are a monthly subscription service that has a different theme every month and always includes lots of healthy snack options. This month, the theme is 100% non-GMO.  GMO stands for Genetically Modified Organisms. These are foods that have been modified from their natural form. Researchers are finding that products containing GMOs may have a negative effect of your body and health so it is best to avoid them when possible. Here is what was in this months Bestowed box: -Way Better Snacks Black Bean Tortilla Chips- I have tried these before and love them! They are sprouted and are full of protein and omega 3s. -Women’s Health Magazine- 1 year subscription!! -UNREAL Peanut Butter Cups- These are chocolate candies that are “unjunked” with healthier ingredients, no GMOS or artificial colors or flavors. -Nature’s Path Love Crunch Dark Chocolate Macaroon Granola- This

Nature Box Review

I first reviewed Nature Box last year and really liked it. In fact, I purchased a couple months of it on my own since I enjoyed the variety of snacks they sent. Nature Box is a monthly subscription service that provides you with 5 different kind of snacks each month. The snacks vary greatly every month but there are always some savory, some sweet and usually some kind of nuts or seeds in each one. They provide 4-5 servings of each snack in a bag which ends up being usually about 15-20 servings per Nature Box. They are often healthier snack options than your typical cookies or chips and come with some pretty unique products. Nature Box guarantees that their snacks will have no high fructose corn syrup, partially hydrogenated oils, trans fats, artificial colors, flavors and sweeteners.   This months Nature Box came with the following: -Honeycomb sunflower kernels- flavorful and tasty on a salad. -Flax crostini bites- Flax gives you fiber and omega-3 fatty acids. Dave’s Gourmet Review and Giveaway

I have seen Dave’s Gourmet products in stores for years but never got around trying it until now. They are sold at stores such as TJ Maxx and Marshall’s. They sell different products including pasta sauces, hot sauce, nuts and more. For my review, I was sent a variety of products. The most fun to try was Dave’s Burning Nuts which are super hot peanuts. When my family was over, I tried a peanut. Wow, was it ever hot! I could only eat one. My entire family tried them and could not believe how hot they were. The only one who could eat more than one was my sister Natalie who could eat a couple handfuls at a time. She loves them! The nuts are very tasty but too hot for me to eat.   The sauces that I was able to try were the award winning butternut squash sauce, wild mushroom, masala marinara and spicy heirloom marinara sauces. I love trying different kinds of sauces so that I never get sick of one. The masala marinara sauce has Indian type spices and is great with chickpeas a

Headsweats Review

As a runner, I have been getting nervous for winter to come. I didn’t really have any fall or winter running gear and was wondering if honestly, I would just give up running for now since I do not like to run on the treadmill. I have started to purchase a few pieces bit by bit to help myself stick with running in the colder weather. I was recently sent a couple of products from Headsweats to review which are headbands and hats that you can sweat in. I chose a winter headband and a pink baseball cap to review. The Headsweats Thermal Topless Headband is good for working out in the winter. It can be worn for biking, running or other winter sports. I like to run before dawn (okay, I don’t like to but the morning is when I am most motivated to run) and it is still dark out. This headband has a reflective logo for safety which is a helps. It is made of fleece on one side and stretch fabric on the other. It has moisture wicking properties while avoiding being bulky. It is ver

Rightfully Raw Review

Rightfully Raw is a company that makes different kinds of dips, desserts and more all raw. I recently won a giveaway on another blog to try these raw products and decided to write about them because they are so tasty and the company was so kind. In fact, the owner hand-delivered my package to my house! I was able to try some different products such as different kinds of hummus, bruschetta, vegan cheese dip, vegan caramel dip and more. All of the products are vegan and raw. They come super fresh without any preservatives. They are a local Michigan company. For any Metro Detroiter’s, you can purchase these products at the Eastern Market or on the Rightfully Raw website. Here is my opinion of the Rightfully Raw products: - Raw caramel dip - this dip contains: raw cashews, dates, maple syrup, vanilla and sea salt. No preservatives, no unknown ingredients, only real ingredients. This dip tastes like real caramel and is so good! It is healthier than regular caramel because it

Organic Girl Kale, Rice Bran OIl and The Cookie Department Review

I was recently sent some new-to-me products to try and this is what I thought.   Organic Girl Baby Kale I had done a review for Organic Girl greens in the past when I created my Pulled Pork and Greens Frittata and of course, loved them! They recently contacted me to try their new product: baby kale. This kale is much tenderer than traditional kale and much more similar to lettuce or spinach. I loved these baby kale leaves and have used them in a few different ways.             1. In a smoothie- I always add a large handful of greens to my smoothies and this Organic Girl kale made a great addition.             2. To dip into hummus- these leaves hold up well being dipped into hummus and are of course much healthier than using chips.             3. As a salad- baby kale can be easily substituted for lettuce and is great in a salad. I topped my kale salad with shredded parmesan cheese, sliced pears and chopped green pepper. Ornaments With Love Review

For the past two years, I was kindly offered an ornament to review from Ornaments with Love . My favorite ornament is the one I created for my husband when we first moved into our new home with our new address on it. It was the perfect timing and a great memory. My ornament from 2 years ago! If your loved one is into sports, there are ornaments for them. They have family ornaments, love ornaments, engagement ornaments and more. In my experience, these ornaments always ship very fast and come nicely wrapped with small gift bag to wrap it in. Here are some of my favorite ornaments from Ornaments with Love: If you are thinking of cr

Aventura Clothing Review

Aventura Clothing Review

Last year, I was able to try Aventura clothing for the first time and really liked it! Both pieces are still in good shape that I reviewed including a dress and light sweater. This time for my review, I chose the Nadia Sweater dress. The Aventura Nadia Sweater Dress retails for $109 and comes in dark shadow or espresso colors. The dress is very soft and will be great for winter. I love to pair a sweater dress with a pair of tights or leggings. They go great with boots for cold days. This dress is nice enough that I could wear it to church or work for example but it is also casual enough to wear it lounging around the house. The dress has a pattern called pointelle on the top half and has a cowl neck. The dress creates a flattering shape with the rib waistband. It falls above my knees and has a nice fit. It is made of rayon, nylon, angora and cotton. It has a bit of a fuzzy feel to it which will be perfect for winter. Aventura has many cute sweaters and dresses a

MaraNatha Review and Giveaway

Maranatha is a company that sells different kinds of nut butters. I had tried their no-stir almond butter from my grocery store a few months ago and really enjoyed it. I was sent a few other flavors of Maranatha nut butter to try. Hands down, my favorite nut butter that I was sent was the no-stir coconut creamy almond butter. It is so delicious! The nut butter uses real coconut, not just coconut flavoring. This nut butter is creamy and satisfying. It gives you just enough coconut flavor but not too much to overpower the almond butter. This product is new and I can highly recommend it. Be warned- it is addicting! I was also sent the no-stir raw maple almond butter. This nut butter has a light maple flavor and is very creamy. I do prefer roasted nut butters though because I think that they have a richer flavor. Ingredients include: raw almonds, maple sugar, palm oil and sea salt. Two tablespoons contains 180 calories, 6 grams of protein, 3 grams sugar, 3 grams fiber,
