When it comes to feeding your baby, I find a "whatever works" approach to be best. If your baby breastfeeds exclusively, formula feeds, you pump and give baby bottles, it is up to you and works best for your family. For us, I breastfeed Adalyn when I am with her and pump while at work and she gets bottles from family that is taking care of her.

We were sent the Munchkin LATCH bottle. This bottle is designed specifically for breastfeeding babies. Having the correct latch is super important for breastfeeding- trust me. If the latch is not correct, you can have pain and it can make your breastfeeding experience very difficult. A lot of babies do have to be able to switch back and forth from the bottle to breast and this bottle is designed to help.

Luckily, Adalyn never had any issues taking a bottle or switching back and forth. Honestly, I think she just loves to eat! Where we did have issues was with reflux. I didn't know that Adalyn had reflux for awhile but when she was nursing, she would pull off and SCREAM. Horrible screams and I did not know what to do. After calling the lactation consultant from the hospital I delivered at, they told me to go to her pediatrician and that it was probably reflux. We got her on some medicine and it helped a bunch. I honestly thought it was something that I was eating, not her. I am so glad we got that all worked out and she was able to feel better.

The LATCH bottle makes it so the bottle nipple moves, stretches and functions like the breast which helps baby latch correctly. The bottle mimics breastfeeding by releasing more milk when baby pushes against the nipple base.

They have different flows of nipples including stage 1, 2, and 3 so you can increase the flow as baby grows. Adalyn is 6 months now and we actually never increased the flow on her bottles. It seems to be working this way.

One thing that I like about the bottle is that it does not have a bunch of extra pieces and parts like some do. It can also help babies with colic by moving with baby so that they can maintain their latch without ingesting air. I don't know if Adalyn had colic for sure but we had a lot of times where there was a lot of crying and we didn't know what was wrong (she was fed, changed, warm, not tired, etc.). If you feed baby a bottle often, I think it is important to find a bottle that they like and do not ingest too much air which can cause them to be very uncomfortable.

The bottle also has an anti-colic valve at the bottom of the bottle which makes sure that air bubbles don't travel through. When Adalyn has gas, I feel so bad for her so reducing gas is very important to us. The Munchkin LATCH bottle is BPA free and can be found at Target and Babies'R'Us.

The LATCH pacifier has a built in rattle to entertain baby right in the pacifier's center which is neat. It has a clip that attaches to baby's clothing. They come in 0+ month and 6 month sizes.

We like this bottle a lot! Adalyn takes it easily and without any gas issues. It is simple to clean which is important for busy parents.
