Blackberry Protein Popsicles

Blackberry Protein Popsicles are so easy to make and make a healthy dessert or snack! Feel free to swap blackberries for your favorite fruit. I love popsicles and ice cream in the summer. The problem is that they are often filled with junky ingredients such as too much sugar or artificial preservatives. I wanted to create a filling popsicle for summer that was both delicious and filling with pretty healthy ingredients. I had the most beautiful giant blackberries in my freezer that I had purchased earlier this year. I pulled those out and got to creating and was very happy with the result. The color is a beautiful purple shade that I love. Blackberry Protein Popsicles Servings : 6 popsicles Ingredients: 1 1/4 cups blackberries, fresh or frozen 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt 1 scoop Purely Inspired vanilla protein Just enough milk to blend Directions: 1. Blend all ingredients together in the blender. Start with a splash of milk and add only as much as it

Black Bean Burgers with Spicy Grilled Vegetables

All opinions are mine alone.   #GrillWithATwist #CollectiveBias If you've been reading this blog for awhile, then you know how much I love MorningStar Farms Spicy Black Bean Burgers. They are my very favorite veggie burger. They are so delicious and you will not miss the meat at all. Troy and I are not vegetarians but we love to include many vegetarian meals in our diet. It is healthier, less expensive, less time consuming than if we forgot to defrost meat and need a meal quickly and are often tastier. We eat veggie burgers about once per week for dinner. I take them about 2-3 times per week for work for lunch on top of a bed of salad or roasted vegetables. Last year, I shared my recipe for chipotle black bean burgers using the recipe that the corporate chef from my job shared with me. The corporate chef and corporate dietitian from my work are two meat-loving men and they both like this v

Fourth of July Celebration

Disclosure: This post is sponsored by Hebrew National. All opinions are my own. I love the 4th of July. We usually spend it at my parents' farm and go to the local, small town fireworks. This year will be no different and we will be going to a Tim McGraw impersonator concert as well. I can't wait! It will be Adalyn's first 4th of July and I have a perfect outfit and shoes for her (of course, right?)! Since this is such a fun holiday, we decided to celebrate early with this 4th of July themed party. The first thing that I made was a flag snack tray. I used the ingredients that I had on hand which were blueberries, cheese, red pepper slices and bananas. This snack tray is actually perfect for Adalyn because she can eat all of these foods and loves them. You can also use cherry tomatoes, watermelon, cherries, etc. For the white, you could do mushrooms or peeled cucumbers. We also used red white and blue serving ware including red plates, white plates and blue gla

New LEAN CUISINE® Marketplace Meals

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc.  and  its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #MyNewLeanCuisine #CollectiveBias You all know that I love to cook but sometimes, I just am too tired or busy to do so. Adalyn has been sleeping very poorly lately and at the end of the workday, I just don't feel like spending a long time in the kitchen. Meals have been whatever I can throw together quickly. I still try to keep it healthy because eating nutritious foods is important to my family. LEAN CUISINE® recently changed some of their products and now have gluten-free and protein packed options as well as meals with organic ingredient options. I love that they have organic varieties for those who prefer organic meals. For example, the Vermont white cheddar mac and cheese is made with organic pasta. For those who require a gluten-free diet, these would be great.  I had had LEAN CUISINE® meals in the past when I was in college for a quick dinner. They are quite

Healthy Snacks Review

1. Melissa's Produce - I am a huge fan of Melissa's produce. They have awesome lentils, produce, dried cranberries and more. I have enjoyed a lot of products from them. Right now, there is a lot of awesome produce in season. I was sent a variety of produce to try and had a blast trying two new-to-me fruits. I was sent some plums and plumcots which were awesome. Plums are Troy's favorite fruit (he does not eat much fruit) but loves these. Adalyn has also been enjoying a diced plum for meals. I was also sent these mini sunburst squash- they are so cute! I plan to grill these whole. We were sent some uncommon fruits called lychees. You just peel off the bumpy layer and eat. I had my family over for a party and we tried these and the finger limes below. Adalyn was a fan! I think that she may have tried more foods than any baby her age haha. My favorite product that we received was these finger limes. I just sliced them in half the long way and they are full of t

8 Foods to Eat Before Your Run

This post is sponsored by LARABAR. All opinions are my own. Running is a great form of exercise and I have been enjoying going on some short runs this summer season. I just got some new running shoes which is helping to motivate me as well. I usually run first thing in the morning so I do not usually eat before I run. Some people swear by eating before a run though. If you are going longer than an hour, I would say that you do need some extra nutrition before your run to fuel you through. Eating the right foods before going for a run can help give you the energy that you need to feel great throughout your workout. Skip foods that are overly heavy and may make you feel weighed down such as fried or greasy foods.  You should focus on eating an overall balanced diet including fruit, vegetables, beans, grains, low-fat dairy and lean proteins. Hydration is also important to keep you feeling your best. Drink water as your main liquid choice and aim for 8 glasses per day.

Adalyn 9 Month Update

Holy Moly! We are nearing one year old. Where in the heck did the time go? When I was thinking about writing this post about a week ago, I had planned to write that there were not that many changes in the last month. This all changed in the last week or so completely. Adalyn became an expert crawler, had her 3rd and 4th teeth pop through, crawled all the way up our entire set of stairs and greatly improved her language. Here are some of the fun things going on this month: Clothing size : All 9 and 12 month clothes! The 12 month clothes are a bit big but fit decently. Diapers : Size 2 Weight : Home weight of 17.5 lbs (wt at doctors in the beginning of July) Feedings : Adalyn is still breastfed 5 times per day. She eats 3 solid meals per day and is still an excellent eater. So last month, we thought that she was allergic to eggplant but found out that she is actually allergic to something on our grill. She gets a red splotchy reaction and it is only from our gri
