Dear Troy,

This year has held a lot of changes for our family. We went from a family of two to three and there has been so much joy in this huge change. We went from being just husband and wife to also being mom and dad. There certainly has been ups and downs along the way but there is no one else in the world that I would rather be a parent with than you. You have been an anchor in our lives and the support beam that we have needed so many times.

I always knew that you would be a great dad. Right when I met you, you were the guy who would be playing with the kids at a party having a blast. You and I each have our strengths (and weaknesses) and I looked forward to seeing how these played out as we became parents. After Adalyn was born, I got to see that not only were you a great husband but also a fabulous father.

Today, I want to share some of the moments that I will never forget (fun and not so fun times) from the last year since you became a dad:
-Ever since Adalyn was born, you sang and danced with her- Adalyn is a lucky girl and is going to be the best dancer at the Daddy Daughter dances in the future. Some of your songs are "I Will Survive" and "Things are Gonna Get Easier".

-I remember one night, Adalyn was screaming like crazy. We were trying everything that we could to get her to calm down but nothing was working. So, like the crazy sleep-deprived parents we were, we decided to take a "blackmail video" of it for the future- looking back, it is kind of a funny video because you is singing and dancing with Adalyn.

One of your major strengths as a parent is calming Adalyn down. You are better at this than I am and on the nights when it is really bad, you have often taken the lead and been up with Adalyn calming her down. I will never forget this and am so thankful for a husband who helps out so much.

-Not only have you been a great Dad but you have also become a better husband along the way. You have supported me through a lot of difficult times the last year and I know I could not have made it through without you. You were my biggest supporter with breastfeeding which I am thankful for because you helped me to stick through it during difficult times. You are always there when I need someone to talk to and I have leaned on you during busy times and times when I have been stressed out. You are always there for me and I thank you so much for that.

-We went on a walk on our trip to Saugatuck and you were wearing Adalyn and suddenly, you felt very warm. You looked down to see that she had peed all over you. All you did was laugh! : )

-You never get mad when Adalyn spits up on you which has happened a lot. Thank goodness this has been greatly reduced finally.

-You help out with diaper changes a lot! (first diaper change ever above)

-Doing things as a family of 3 is the best- trips to the park, walks, farmer's market, the pool, etc.

-I know that our little girl means the world to you and that you would do anything for her (and I) and we love you.

-We have had some crazy nights with 4 hours of screaming and you always have kept your cool- I don't know how you do it.

-You love wearing Adalyn in the baby carrier and don't care what people think.

-We laughed so hard when I was giving Adalyn a bath while I was taking a shower and suddenly, it looked like she had a tail but found out that it was actually poop. Parenting can be difficult and stressful but we have found a way to laugh through tough times and actually enjoy them.

This year has been incredible. It has been one of our best years of marriage yet and I can't wait to see what the future holds. I know that you have been looking forward to your first Father's Day for awhile now and it is finally here. You deserve the best and Adalyn and I are looking forward to sharing this special day with you.

Since you love to look and smell good, I got you this Nautica Voyage Gift Set from Macy's. I know you will love it because you love nice cologne.

This set also comes with aftershave balm and shower gel. (P.S. I gave this kit to Troy early for Father's Day and he loves it. It is light and summery smelling.)

Love,
Amanda (and Adalyn of course!)
