Feeling my best is so important to me. I am a busy mom, wife and blogger and in order to accomplish everything that I want to, I need to feel my best. I got a nasty cold this summer that lasted three whole weeks which was rough but I kept going because I didn't want to miss out on any summer fun. When I notice myself feeling a little run down, I make sure that I am following these tips that help me to feel great.

1. Exercise first thing in the morning

The first thing that I do each day when I wake up if I am up before the kids is go for a walk, biking or some other kind of exercise. I feel so awesome when I start the day with physical activity. If I sit around all morning, I notice that I am so much more tired than if I did get out and exercise. Moving my body helps to make me feel more energized and I feel good that I am doing something good for myself.

2. Drink lots of water

I never have my water bottle more than a few feet away from me to ensure that I drink plenty of water throughout the day. I aim for at least 10-12 cups of water per day because that is what seems to work the best for me.

3. Have a whole-grain or protein packed breakfast

Each day, I try to start my day with a nutritious breakfast. Adalyn loves breakfast like I do so we have fun switching it up. Our whole-grain breakfast favorites are: whole-grain waffles with peanut butter, oatmeal or cereal with milk. Our protein packed breakfast favorites are: eggs with salsa or vegetables, smoothies or an egg sandwich.

4. Enjoying nature

I think a little fresh air is the perfect way to feel awesome. I always feel better when I get spend some time enjoying nature. My favorite things to do are going hiking, visiting different beaches, taking my kids to the zoo, biking and more.

5. Always have vegetables for lunch and dinner

Of course, every so often, we may not have a vegetable for a meal but 95% of the time, we make sure to include a veggie in our lunch and dinner. We eat every single vegetable out there pretty much but favorites include a big salad for lunch, grilled vegetables for dinner, stir-fries, sliced garden-fresh veggies and more.

6. Get enough sleep

Getting enough sleep is easier said than done as a mom with two young kids who often don't want to sleep. I find that I feel my best when I get right around 8 hours of sleep. Any less than 7 hours, I am definitely feeling badly- trust me, I need my sleep.

7. Take daily vitamins

I take a multivitamin, fish oil and a probiotic each day. I think that it is important for me to take these, especially as a breastfeeding mom to ensure that I get enough nutrients for baby. I like the Nature Made® Advanced Dual Action Probiotics from Walmart. I took these right after I had my son and think that they are a great source of good bacteria.

Probiotics are good bacteria that are in cultured or fermented foods such as yogurt, sauerkraut and more. They are beneficial for your digestive system because they help crowd out unwanted organisms and allow the good bacteria to be present in your gut.  Taking a probiotic supplement is a great way to increase your intake of "good" bacteria and help naturally support your digestive balance and healthy gut flora.

This probiotic has 2 probiotic strains including Bifidobacterium lactis which helps the large intestine helping with constipation and irregularity and Lactobacillus plantarum which helps the small intestine helping with bloating and abdominal discomfort. Many probiotics are single strain and this one is beneficial having two strains because it gives you better coverage. If you are not happy with Nature Made Advanced Dual Action probiotics for any reason, you can send it back for a full refund.
