New-to-Me Protein Review

I was recently sent coupons for a variety of products that are great protein choices for meals. Some of them are vegetarian protein sources and some contain meat. I am not a vegetarian but enjoy eating a variety of vegetarian proteins.
 Qrunch burgers
  1. Qrunch Quinoa Burgers
I loved trying these quinoa burgers. They come in different flavors include sweet curry, original, spicy Italian and green chile. I tried the original version and very much enjoyed it. The burgers microwave very quickly so you have a hot meal option ready to go in about 2 minutes. I topped mine with mustard.

The texture was good and did not fall apart too easily. These are supposed to be toasted (which I did not realize at the time) so I will toast them next time. I had my mom and sister try these and we all liked them a lot. I picked these up at Target. I would buy them again for sure. One burger has 190 calories and is made with mostly organic, real food ingredients.

Gardein Beefless SLiders
  1. Gardein Beefless Sliders
Another vegetarian option that went over well with my family. These little sliders come with the bun which made meal prep on a busy day super easy. One slider with a bun is 150 calories and 9 grams of protein. The main ingredient in these is texturized wheat protein. We had them with pickles and mustard. On the side, we had a big salad to get our veggies in. These had a very beefy flavor which is good for vegetarians who do enjoy the traditional flavor of a burger. They were also juicy which was nice because many veggie burgers are dry. I think that children would like these as well.
EVOL Chipotle Chicken Mac & CheeseEvol enchilada bake
  1. Evol Foods
I redeemed some free product coupons at Target for these Evol products. They made burritos, quesadillas and other frozen meals. I picked up some burritos, macaroni and cheese and enchilada bakes for my husband and I to try. I enjoyed the chipotle chicken macaroni and cheese. It was filling and tasty. I added some veggies on the side to make it a complete meal. They have less sodium than some other frozen meals but you do need to be aware that they have 400-600 mg of sodium per meal.

My husband liked the burritos a lot and thought that they were very filling. He is a teacher and has limited time at lunch and liked that these were quick to heat up. The quesadillas were awesome because they come with a side of guacamole. It is frozen to begin with and thaws nicely. My husband thought that this was really neat that it came with guacamole for a side of flavor.

Laura's Lean Beef

  1. Laura’s Lean Beef
Laura’s Lean Beef is a company that sells 92%-96% lean beef. I think that this is awesome because I like beef but prefer to skip the high fat cuts. When I buy beef (which is rare because we usually eat venison), I look for low-fat versions. This meat seems to be high quality and tasted great.

I chose the 96% lean ground round and made meatballs with it. They turned out very well! Their products are free of hormones and antibiotics. Sometimes people think that you should not have red meat at all because it is high in fat and cholesterol. These products are low enough in fat that they can be enjoyed as part of a healthy diet.
