Healthy Tuna Salad

This healthy tuna salad is made lighter with Greek yogurt and is packed with vegetables for a nutritious and filling meal!

Ever since I was little, I have always been a big fan of tuna. I would eat it often when I went to my grandma's house. Now, I enjoy tuna salad for a filling, protein packed lunch. I love this healthy version which can be made many different ways depending on what ingredients you have on hand.

Healthy Tuna Salad

Ingredients:
1 can water packed tuna
1/2 cup finely diced celery
1 tablespoon diced green onion
2 tablespoons plain Greek yogurt
1 tablespoon reduced fat mayo
1 tablespoon dill relish
2 tsp vinegar
1/2 tsp black pepper

Directions:
1. Open can of tuna and drain well.
2. Combine all ingredients and mix until well combined.
Enjoy on top of a bed of lettuce, whole-grain crackers or whole-grain bread.

Due to the addition of Greek yogurt and only using a bit of mayo, this recipe is much healthier than your typical tuna salad. Also, the addition of vegetables gives you extra fiber and vitamins. It is also more filling this way since you can eat more for not too many calories.

For this meal, I used Bumble Bee tuna which was available at my local grocery store. This tuna was tasty and the meal was satisfying. It is available in a can or pouch. For any of you who are trying to eat healthier in the new year, this recipe is great to help you meet your goals.

Tuna is packed with omega-3 fatty acids and protein making it a good option to eat. It is very lean as well and includes vitamins such as niacin and selenium.

It can be packed for lunch away from the home and is good for a day or two after making. I brought mine for lunch over a large bed of lettuce with whole-grain crackers crumbled over the tuna salad.
