Saffron Road Review

Saffron Road is a company that sells different Mediterranean products. They make crunchy chickpeas, frozen foods, broths, Indian style sauces, etc.  I was sent some of their crunchy chickpeas to try out.

I first discovered roasting chickpeas 1 to 2 years ago and fell in love. I already loved chickpeas and now they were crunchy and made a great snack. I was sent the three flavors of these crunchy chickpeas including Bombay spice, falafel and wasabi.
The Bombay spice ones are very tasty. They are covered in a mixture of paprika, tumeric, onion, garlic and other spices. They are very crunchy similar to a nut. A one ounce serving has 120 calories, 4 grams of fat, 200 milligrams of sodium and 6 grams of protein.

I have been a fan of falafel for a long time now and was excited to try these falafel flavored chickpeas. I brought these up north this weekend and we ate some plain and tried them on top of chicken curry as well.  They use a variety of Middle Eastern spices to give them that falafel flavor.

I am not a fan of wasabi in general so I did not like this flavor of chickpea.

These snacks are a smart alternative to something like chips because they are higher in protein and lower in fat and calories. I think that these would also be good on top of a salad or sprinkled on top of a soup.
