Adalyn 3 1/2 Year Update

My little girl is 3 1/2! There are about 1 million things that I remember about her at this super sweet and a little bit salty time in our lives so I decided to write a post about it.

-Still says "tapato" for potato and tomato. I hope no one ever corrects her. I love it! She calls hot chocolate "hot chocolate, warm chocolate" which I also love. "Ogurt" for yogurt.

-As I write in all of Oliver's updates, Adalyn is the BEST big sister ever and is constantly looking out for her brother. She makes sure that he stays safe, is thrilled to see him each morning and after naps, helps feed him, shares all of her toys with him, puts him on the couch to look out the window together and constantly tells him how much she loves him. It is the absolute best! She carries him all around the house which we don't always love but he is beaming every single time.

-The last few months, we have been working on writing nearly everyday and Adalyn can write all of her upper case letters, half of lower case letters, about half of her numbers and knows how to spell her name, Mom and Dad. We are so proud! I really enjoy working with her on this each day because every single time, there is a ton of progress. She can also count to about 70 but gets 13 and 14 mixed up each time.

-Lucy the stuffed bear has become a member of our family thanks to Adalyn's love for her. She got her from a santa breakfast and is obsessed. Lucy can be found wearing all of Adalyn's old baby clothing, coming everywhere with us and talking in the cutest voice. Adalyn has never been attached to any toy or blanket or anything so this is totally new for us.

Watch out or Elsa will freeze you!
-Only wants to wear two things: super fancy princess dresses or pajama dresses that "go down" as she says. She changes about 8 times per day and her bedroom floor can be seen covered in all different princess dresses about twice a day. She is super, super girly and loves high heels, lipstick and purses. Her favorites are Elsa, Snow White and Rapunzel.

-I've never met someone so caring. I aspire to be like her on a daily basis. If I'm sick, she constantly asks me how I'm feeling, tells me to go lay down and that she will take care of her brother (obviously I never allow this!!). She tells Troy and I that she loves us so much. She loves all of her grandparents so much and shows love with hugs and kisses and telling them "I love my grandparents soooo much". She takes interest in everyone she knows and gets attached to people in two seconds. She loves my brother's friend Matt and my sister's boyfriend Joe. She is interested in anything that each person is interested in. My dad loves his farm, making a fire and exercise and Adalyn knows to ask him about those things.

-She loves exercise and loves going on walks, dancing, wrestling with her daddy and playing chase all around the house. She mimics me and loves walking on the treadmill for about 60 seconds at a time. She loves coloring and drawing pictures of mom and dad.

-She LOVES to eat and wants a snack 10 times a day. Her favorites are any kind of sausage or hot dog, oranges, berries, any kind of fruit, veggies with dip, yogurt, pouches, beef jerky/meat sticks, hot chocolate warm chocolate, popcorn, orange juice, bagels with cream cheese, any kind of soup (especially chili) and everything else. The only foods she doesn't seem to be a fan of are raw mushrooms and sometimes cooked mushrooms.

-She is so energetic and outgoing. She is never shy and loves to be the center of attention. She has no problem getting up in front of a group of people and dancing and singing. Some of her favorite songs are "Let it go", "Turn Down for What"- really, "Witch Doctor", "Part of your World" and more. She definitely gets this from her dad, not me!

-She loves going to school and loves her teachers. She is excited to go to school everyday but struggles to clean up at school despite us having a talk about it almost every day, having things taken away, etc. She loves to hug her friends and her best friend is Anna.

-She is an excellent story teller and can make up a 10 minute story all on her own. It's crazy! She loves being told stories about Indiana Jones, any story from my childhood and anything about princesses. She makes up voices for people such as her brother and her bear Lucy which we just love.

-While Adalyn is one of the best people ever, she is also extremely strong willed. That girl will scream her lungs out if you ask her to do something horrible like use the bathroom before bed. She loves to take food she isn't supposed to have.

-She loves everything princess. We went to a Frozen lunch and she couldn't stop hugging the characters, dancing with them, singing the songs, etc. She was decked out in head to toe frozen gear. She loves every princess and begs to watch the movies daily. She loves princess books, coloring books, clothes, everything.

-Ada has full plans to "marry her brother". She wants to wear Mama's "marry" dress, have red roses and she is going to live happily ever after. I'm not stopping this now because it's funny and she certainly won't be saying this by the time she is in high school.

-Going to bed each night and for nap is the worst possible thing that we could do to Adalyn. It is torture every time. She fights it and fights it. She can seriously be in her room for 3 hours not sleeping. She totally gets this from me sadly. She tries to get out of her room, needs another hug/kiss from Mom and Dad, needs her nightlights turned on, needs help putting her blankets back on her bed, she can't find her stuffed animals, she needs to go to the bathroom, etc. etc. etc.etc. She gets out of her bed and goes in ours when we aren't in it and then we can't find her. I wrote all of this so I can remember this when she is a teenager and doesn't want to get out of bed lol.

-She loves playing games like Candyland, Go Fish and memory games. She never wants her Daddy to leave for work because she will miss him. She keeps trying to hide from us in stores which is not fun at all. If anyone is ever hurt or sick, she asks about them thousands of times. She is so caring and concerned. We finally took her to her first movie last week: Ferdinand. She loved it and she sat still the whole time.
