It's summertime and life is amazing! Tomorrow is Adalyn's last day of school. Friday is my teacher husband's last day of school and I work from home with a flexible schedule. Summer is about to be outrageous in the Hernandez household. We have so many incredible things planned and so many amazing places to go. I am so so excited! While we are on the go most days, at least part of the day we spend hanging out at home. We've come up with quite a few super fun things to do right in our own backyard that is fun for the kids.

1. Read outside

We have comfortable patio furniture and love grabbing a few books and cuddling up together outdoors and reading. There is just something that makes it nicer reading outside than inside.

My kids love the books that have buttons that you push and they make different sounds which requires batteries and my daughter's microphone needs batteries. We love the Energizer® Ultimate Lithium™ AA batteries which I pickup at Walgreens. I'm not joking when I tell you that the chore that my husband hates the most is replacing batteries. That's why we love these because they are the #1 longest lasting AA battery. They last longer than other brands and therefore, he has to change them less often.

2. Swim in a pool

We have an inexpensive pool that we blow up for the kids and they love it! Simple summer fun at its finest.

3. Play with the water table

The water table is a big hit with my 1 year old and 3 year old. Now stopping Adalyn from pouring water on her brother's head is a different story! We have a bunch of bath toys in there that they can use and have so much fun together.

4. Ride bikes

Recently, Adalyn learned how to ride her bike and it is so much fun! Of course you can bike around town but you can also bike in your backyard if you have a driveway and cement in the back.

5. Play on the playground

Last year, we bought the kids a playground on clearance and it has turned out to be a big hit. Adalyn loves going down the slide, flipping on the bar and swinging on the swing. Oliver enjoys the baby swing and we have a little slide that he can use.

6. Sing karaoke in the backyard

Adalyn LOVES to sing and dance and I found a princess microphone for her for $1 at a Mom to Mom Sale and it was the best find! She loves singing "Let it Go" and other princess songs into her microphone.

These Energizer Ultimate Lithium batteries perform in extreme temperatures: -40 F to 140 F so they are great to carry with you on your hot summer adventures. They have a 20 year shelf life and are 33% lighter weight.

7. Color with chalk

The kids love writing with chalk and if your child is old enough to start writing letters, it is a great way to

8. Bubbles

Kids love bubbles. Adalyn loves to blow them and Oliver loves to catch them. Even better is that bubbles can travel anywhere I throw a bottle in our diaper bag to use when we need something to do.

9. Have a dance party

My kids LOVE to dance and having an outdoor dance party is the best. We especially love to have them around a bonfire. Put on a little Princess music and my daughter is thrilled.

10. Have a picnic

We love eating outside and it is fun to grab a snack or some ice cream and enjoying it in the yard together. Bonus: if the kids make a mess, it is outside instead of in my house. Nothing that the hose can't spray off!

I could easily go on and on and on because we love to do so many things outside in the summer. I hope this list gave you a few new ideas and feel free to share more summer fun ideas in the comments.
