With it being strawberry season, I decided to make one of my favorite recipes using strawberries: my whole-wheat banana bread. My kids go insane for any kind of banana bread that I make so I knew that it would go over really well. The verdict: Healthy Strawberry Banana Bread is super delicious just like regular banana bread!

How to Make Healthy Strawberry Banana Bread

What makes this strawberry banana bread healthy? It uses 100% white whole-wheat flour. I use the white version because is has a milder flavor and bakes just like all-purpose flour but has more fiber and vitamins. I added protein powder for a little extra boost of protein and to help keep us full. Doesn't stop me from having a few slices though! It's so good!

I used fresh strawberries and they fiber, vitamin C, potassium and folate. All important vitamins! I also use no-sugar added applesauce instead of oil and use a small amount of honey instead of a larger amount of sugar. Though this banana bread is healthier, you definitely won't notice it.

As I type this post, my daughter is on her third thick slice of strawberry banana bread. We are totally addicted! I love doubling or tripling the recipe every time that I make banana bread and freezing a loaf or two. It defrosts the same as fresh and is such a treat to have a couple of months after I make it.

Healthy Strawberry Banana Bread

Banana Bread Protein Bars have everything you love about banana bread but in bar form! They are whole-wheat, high in protein and fiber and make the perfect snack.
Prep Time:  10 minutes Cook time: 45 minutes Total time: 55 mins

INGREDIENTS

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray a bread pan with nonstick spray.
  2. Mix together all ingredients and stir well.
  3. Pour batter into pan and bake for about 45 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean when inserted into center of bread.
  4. Let cool for about 15 minutes and slice.
**These breads freeze really well!
