7 Tips for Improving Your Fitness

Tips and tricks for improving your fitness levels including workout ideas and food to refuel with after a workout!

This post is sponsored by BabbleBoxx.
I am so excited to share this post today because health, nutrition and fitness are my biggest passions! After having Lily, it was hard for me to get back to being fit and to lose the pregnancy weight. I never did anything like dieting because I do not believe in that but just continued to exercise regularly and eat right and finally, 1 year later, I am feeling more fit than I have ever been. I want to share how I got to this point by sharing 7 tips for improving your fitness.

7 Tips for Improving Your Fitness

1. Exercise regularly

For me, I feel my best when I get some form of exercise almost every single day. No not crazy over-the-top workouts but something as simple as taking a 30 minute walk with my family or a bike ride feels great. By committing to exercising most days of the week, it is part of my routine and feels built into my schedule rather than working hard to find time to exercise.

2. Choose workout clothes you love

Whether you like just wearing a sports bra and leggings or shorts and a tank top, find what works for you and get some quality workout clothes. It is so helpful to have workout clothes that fit right, do not ride up and that are comfortable. Also, if you have cute workout gear, you may be more likely to want to workout! I like the No nonsense wide waistband sport leggings for cool morning walks and runs. The fabric is lightweight and super stretchy which is comfortable for exercise.

**Use code SPORT25 for 25% off your No nonsense order.

Also, when I workout or go swimming, I get super nervous that my rings are going to fall off because I wear them a little looser since my fingers seem to change sizes through the day. I've been wearing this wristband from RingHero that makes it easy to store your rings in a zippered pocket on your wrist. I don't like when my hand weights rub against my rings so this helps to keep them safe.

3. Make exercise a family event

With 3 kids, in order to fit in exercise daily, I have to make it a family event. We walk, run and bike together. Sometimes, the kids will do a YouTube workout with me.

4. Refuel after a workout

I like to eat something within 30 minutes of a hard workout to refuel. Choosing foods with a mix of protein and carbohydrates is key. My go-to post-workout food in the morning for breakfast is a smoothie made with Ancient Nutrition Multi Collagen Protein. I'll use any frozen fruit that I have on hand, spinach, collagen and milk. Feel free to use any fruit you like such as bananas, berries or mango.

I like using collagen protein instead of other protein powders because it doesn't change the flavor or texture of the smoothie. It just blends in really well while giving you a boost of nutrients. This collagen is from multiple sources including bovine and marine. It can help to support a healthy gut, skin, hair and nails.

If you've been reading this blog for any amount of time, you know that I am a huge supporter of taking probiotics for gut health. I like the Ancient Nutrients Zinc and Probiotics which supports healthy digestion. I like taking my supplements after breakfast.

5. Find a workout buddy

I have been working out with my mom twice a week since March. We do these YouTube workouts two times a week for strength which is what I really think helped my fitness levels. I notice that I am much stronger now than ever after doing these for the last 9 months. Trust me, it was SO hard for me to commit to strength workouts because I love just doing things like walks but I feel a lot better when I do some form of strength training. Also, I am going running with my dad 1-2 times per week.

6. Choose nutritious snacks

I love snacking so much and snack all day long. I try to choose nutritious snacks most of the time like fresh fruit, cheese and whole-grain crackers, Greek yogurt and healthy bars. The new Packed™ Sustained Energy Bars from Nature Valley™ are awesome. They come in peanut butter and cranberry and almond butter and blueberry flavors. Each bar has 230-240 calories, 7 grams of protein and 3 grams of fiber. The main ingredient in each bar is peanut butter and almond butter.

7. Eat balanced meals

A huge part of feeling healthy and fit is good nutrition. I like having a mix of whole-grains, fiber and protein in my meals. For a quick meal that I do not have to cook, I like the meals from Veestro. They come fully prepared and are 100% plant-based. My favorites are the red curry with tofu and the enchilada casserole. Red curry with tofu is my favorite Thai takeout choice and this one tastes just like it. Veestro has meals like I would make at home but they come fully-prepared which saves so much time on a busy day with the kids. I like these for a quick lunch.

Bonus: For fun, the Amenti Oracle Feather Heart Deck and Guide Book is a fun mystical gift. It teaches the concepts of truth and balance which can be part of health and fitness. It is aimed for modern day soul seekers.
