15 Things You Don't Know About Me

The Nutritionist Reviews mostly focuses on product reviews, giveaways, recipes and nutrition posts. I feel like I do not get to share all aspects of my life. I thought that it would be fun to share with all of you some things about me that I have not shared before.

Troy and I last Sunday for his birthday!

1. I love to coupon! I use a coupon for almost everything including groceries, restaurants, retail stores and events. I almost never pay full price for anything. Finding items on clearance are the biggest thrill to me! My dad taught me how to find deals.

2. I could live on fruit alone. I absolutely love every kind of fruit. My parents grow apples and I used to eat 10 apples a day. I have since scaled back a bit haha. My favorite kinds are raspberries, peaches, nectarines, strawberries and pineapple.

3. When I was 15, I took care of my sick Dzia-Dzia (grandpa in Polish). He needed 24/7 care and my siblings and I would alternate taking care of him. This including cooking meals, giving medications, helping him walk, etc. It was an experience that changed my life forever but I would not change it for the world. When he passed away in 2005, it was very hard on me and the entire family.

4. Even though I have dachshunds now, I grew up with Irish Setters and a Golden Retriever. My parents still have 2 Irish Setters.

5. I'm definitely a city girl but I love the farm life too. My parents have had their farm since 1998 and I love going there and going on nature walks and looking at the land.

6. I met my husband at a frat. My husband was a frat boy : ). I went there with a friend and met him in 2007 and we have been together since.

7. I never found myself to be a very good writer and I never enjoyed it much, yet here I am blogging daily and writing for several websites. I now enjoy it very much and couldn't imagine my life without it.

8. I used to be a runner in high school and then stopped for 6 years. This past spring, I recently picked it up again and have been blowing my high school times out of the water!

9. My body is very sensitive to salt and kind of sensitive to caffeine. I need to drink at least a gallon of water per day to feel okay. That's why I always keep my trusty 32 ounce Contigo water bottle with me.

10. I truly love to exercise. I love the mental benefits of it and always feel better than when I do not exercise.

11. I can get pretty creative in the kitchen. I can create recipes from the most random ingredients. They may not always turn out delicious but they are often interesting!

12. When I was born, I was very, very sick. I had a hole in my lung and had to be transferred from one hospital to another since it was an emergency. My parents did not think that I was going to make it. Now, I am perfectly healthy and only have one tiny scar from when I was sick.

13. I love country music. Up until I met my husband, I hated it. He introduced me to it and now, that is what I listen to at least 50% of the time.

14. This one is a little obvious but I love nutrition. I love talking about food. I honestly could do it 24/7 and never get bored. If you ever want to talk about food with me, I would be happy to do so. I love to educate people about living a healthy lifestyle.

15. I love trying all nationalities of food. I love Mexican, Chinese, Middle Eastern, Indian, Italian, Greek, etc.

So, did you learn anything new about me? If you have any questions or anything you want to know about me, feel free to ask.

  2. I really enjoyed learning a bit about the 'girl behind the blog'! But I'm surprised that you didn't always identify as a good writer. I have little patience for poorly written blogs, but I've subscribed to yours for quite some time. You're a great writer! That's what keeps me (and others) comin' back for more! ;)

  3. I enjoyed your post as well. I see you have bit of "nurse" in you too. I was a nutritionist working in a hospital (Dietetics was my first bachelors), then business (MBA) and now nursing (RN, BSN), but still love to read about food and nutrition. Of course fitness too so your blog always has something interesting for me and really enjoy it Amanda.
