I wanted to share a great smoothie recipe with you that I drank when I was pregnant with Oliver. It is loaded with nutrients that are great for anyone, but especially pregnant women. This smoothie is loaded with lots of healthy foods and would be great for breakfast or a snack anytime of day. I included frozen berries, bananas, peanut butter, chia seeds, yogurt and milk all for different reasons that help benefit baby and mom.

Ingredients in Pregnancy Superfood Smoothie

Chia seeds

You know I had to go there! I am a huge fan of chia seeds, which are rich in fiber, omega-3 and protein. Omega-3 is super important for baby's brain and eye development.

Greek yogurt

Greek yogurt is rich in protein and calcium, which helps to keep you full and is important for cell growth. It is important that baby gets enough calcium, because your body will take calcium from mom's stores and give it to baby. Calcium is important for strong bones.

Bananas

Bananas are an awesome source of potassium and provide quick energy. They are great to eat before or after exercising and are light on the stomach when you may be experiencing nausea.

Milk

To get everything blending, milk is a great liquid to use as it is rich in protein, vitamin D and calcium. One cup of milk provides about 30 percent of your daily calcium needs, which is 1000 milligrams.

Berries

Berries are rich in fiber, especially raspberries. Pregnant women often suffer from constipation and fiber is a great way to help resolve that. Berries are also rich in antioxidants, which we all need.

Peanut butter

Peanut butter is a great source of healthy fat, which is essential for baby's brain development and keeping you full for longer.
