Asian Sloppy Joes Sandwich

I recently found out that my kids love sloppy joes and wanted to try a new recipe that was similar and came up with these Asian Sloppy Joes. These sloppy joes are loaded with lots of fresh veggies such as carrots, red peppers, green onion, garlic, celery and ginger and has a super tasty garlic-ginger-soy sauce.

How to Make Asian Sloppy Joes

First, I added olive oil to a large skillet and sautéed the carrots, celery, onions, and bell peppers. Once those were cooked, I added in the lean ground beef and cooked it until it was cooked all the way through. Venison, ground chicken or ground turkey would work as well. Then, I added in the ginger and garlic.

The sauce for these Asian sloppy joes is made of low-sodium soy sauce, tomato sauce, vinegar, and hoisin sauce. Then I added in the green onions at the end. The ginger, garlic and onions give a lot of flavor to the sauce as well. I served the Asian sloppy joes on whole-wheat buns and my kids loved it!

Asian Sloppy Joes Nutrition

This dish is high in protein from the meat and high in fiber and vitamins and minerals from the veggies. The whole-wheat buns provide fiber and vitamins. It is a great balanced meal. We love pairing this meal with an Asian coleslaw or steamed or roasted broccoli.
