Chocolate Dipped Ice Cream Cones feature waffle cone ice cream cones or bowls dipped in chocolate and covered in sprinkles, peanuts or chocolate chips.

Chocolate Dipped Ice Cream Cones

Summer is coming and it is time to start our daily ice cream obsession! Last summer, the kids, Troy and I would come home from the pool, go on the front lawn and have some ice cream. Just a little scoop each night but it was a tradition that we all looked forward to. For a fun surprise for my kids, I made these Chocolate Dipped Ice Cream Cones and I think I won a Mom of the Year award with my kids that day!

Prairie Farms Small Batch Ice Cream Pints

It feels a little silly even to share how to make these Chocolate Dipped Ice Cream Cones but since I had never thought to make them before myself, I thought that this little recipe could help give you an idea for a fun dessert to make that is slightly different from just having ice cream in a cake cone (which I love too). These Chocolate Dipped Ice Cream Cones would be awesome for birthday parties or any summer gathering.

Chocolate dipped ice cream cones are super easy to make. Just heat chocolate chips with coconut oil on the stove in a double boiler or in the microwave stirring frequently and dip the top of the cones in the melted chocolate mixture. Then, quickly roll in either crushed peanuts, chocolate chips or sprinkles (or whatever else sounds good!).

Ice Cream Cones Covered in Chocolate

You want to know what kinds of ice cream I have served in these chocolate dipped ice cream cones? The best new flavors from Prairie Farms in their Premium Small Batch Ice Cream Pints. Strawberry Shortcake, Savannah Fudge Pie, Salted Caramel Toffee Brittle and The Hill. Let me tell you about these incredible flavors!

Strawberry Shortcake Ice Cream Cone

-The Hill- pistachio ice cream with fudge ribbons and almonds

-Strawberry Shortcake- vanilla and strawberry ice cream with shortcake crunch pieces

-Salted Caramel Toffee Brittle- salted chocolate mousse ice cream with a caramel ripple and toffee brittle

-Savannah Fudge Pie- dark chocolate ice cream blended with sugar cookie pieces

The kids love the strawberry shortcake. Troy loves The Hill because he loves pistachio ice cream. My favorite is the savannah fudge pie- it is SO good. Let me tell you, Prairie Farms ice cream is the best. I served it at one of my kid's birthday parties last year and everyone was raving about it and asking me where to buy it (that was for the moose tracks flavor that they loved so much).

Chocolate Dipped Sugar Cones

These ice creams are made with local milk and cream. They have no artificial growth hormones and made in small batches. I love that they come in pint size containers so we can have several varieties on hand. They are made simply with 100% real milk/cream from local farm families and sugar and are one-of-a-kind flavor options. Prep Time: 5 minutes Cook time: 0 minutes Total time: 5 mins

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. In a microwave safe bowl, combine chocolate chips and coconut oil. Heat in 20 second increments stirring each time to avoid burning. Continue to heat for about 1 1/2 minutes until chocolate is fully melted and smooth.
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Carefully dip the top inch of each ice cream cone into the chocolate and immediately roll it in your toppings (peanuts, sprinkle, and/or chocolate chips) or sprinkle them onto the melted chocolate.
  3. Set the cones with the top-side down to cool (otherwise, the toppings will flatten on one side).
  4. Place all of the dipped cones into the fridge for about 15 minutes to cool.
  5. Fill with Prairie Farms ice cream and enjoy!
Enjoy!
