Easy Cinnamon Rolls

Easy Cinnamon Rolls are ready in no-time with store-bought puff pastry (or pizza dough)! Ooey and gooey with cinnamon sugar and cream cheese frosting.

Easy Cinnamon Rolls

I absolutely LOVE cinnamon rolls but have never made them homemade. Recently, I had a package of puff pastry on hand and decided to make them into these easy cinnamon rolls and it turned out so delicious. I'm going to be forward and say these are the best cinnamon rolls you're going to eat. Let's just say that I ate 3 of these right after I took the photos. I love the semi-homemade aspect of these cinnamon rolls. Feel free to use a package of pizza dough as well which would work perfectly too.

Puff Pastry Cinnamon Rolls

I'm not telling you that you have to make these puff pastry cinnamon rolls for Christmas morning but if you don't, you're going to miss out! I always do a couple of packages of cinnamon rolls as part of our Christmas morning tradition and this year, I may have to do this semi-homemade cinnamon rolls version.

How to Make Easy Cinnamon Rolls

Thanks to the puff pastry I used in this recipe, these easy cinnamon rolls come together in no time! Just roll out your puff pastry. Then, mix together cinnamon, sugar and brown sugar. Spread melted butter all over your puff pastry. Sprinkle with the cinnamon sugar mixture. Roll up the puff pastry dough and cut into 12 rolls. Place closely together in a baking dish like a 9-inch pie plate or medium sized baking dish sprayed with nonstick spray. Bake until cooked through- 15-20 minutes.

Christmas Cinnamon Rolls

You want your cinnamon rolls to be perfectly gooey but cooked through so I use a Taylor Rapid Response Thermometer to make sure they are done but not overdone. You want your cinnamon rolls to be at least 165 degrees on the inside. This thermometer is super easy to use and I find it so helpful for cooking meat, making homemade candy, etc.

I also used the Taylor Multi-Purpose Timer. Of course I have a timer on my oven but when I cook and bake, I often make more than 1 thing at the same time and it is super helpful to have more than 1 timer going. Also, our oldest daughter uses this timer to know how long to read, how long is appropriate to take a shower for (not 40 minutes!), etc.

Gooey cinnamon rolls

Meanwhile, mix together softened cream cheese and butter, powdered sugar, vanilla and if the mixture is too thick, a little milk to make your frosting. This is the most delicious part! Once your cinnamon rolls are baked, spread the frosting all over them and let it melt a little. Enjoy!

  5. Whisk together the cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, vanilla and if your mixture is too thick, milk for the frosting. Once the rolls are out of the oven, immediately lightly spread the frosting on the rolls.
Tip: If your puff pastry comes frozen, thaw ahead of time in the fridge.
Tip: If your puff pastry is sticking to the parchment, add a little flour to the parchment paper.
