Lighter Buffalo Chicken Dip

This Lighter Buffalo Chicken Dip is healthier than the original but is still full of flavor and makes the perfect appetizer! Made easy by being cooked in the slow cooker. I was first introduced to buffalo chicken dip two New Years Eve's ago when my brother brought it for an appetizer at a party I was hosting. It was so good that we have had it a few times since. I love the tender shredded chicken, creamy sauce and spice from the dip.

Adalyn 17-18 Month Update

My baby is 1 1/2! I want to say that I can hardly believe it but it does seem like her first birthday was quite awhile ago. Plus, a lot has happened between September and now. The last couple of months have been fun with not too many changes. Here is what Adalyn has been up to: Clothing/diaper size : Size 18 month clothes, size 5 shoes, size 3 diapers Eating : Well, we finally stopped breastfeeding. March 16th was our last day so we made it 18 months! I had some emotions about stopping but I think that it is for the best. I am not sure that Adalyn was completely ready but for personal reasons, I decided that now was a good time. I will miss those sweet times for sure. Adalyn is still an awesome eater. The only issue is that she does not really like milk. She throws a cup of milk but will drink some if I put a little banana milk in it. Not more than 4 ounces per day. So for now, we are focusing on other sources of calcium. I recently went through a big list of vegeta

1. Pediped Shoes Since Adalyn has started walking, I notice that she does best with high quality shoes. Sometimes cheap boots or other cheaply made shoes make her trip more, etc. I love shoes from Pediped! Adalyn had some of these this past year and she wore them all the time. They are made super well and look adorable. For our review, we were sent the Grip 'n" Go Betty White shoes. Adalyn will be wearing these for Easter and I can't wait to see them with her adorable Easter dress! They have a soft rubber sole which which helps mimic the natural shape of the child's foot. **Keep reading for a Pediped giveaway!

Carrot Cake Smoothie

Carrot Cake Smoothie

This Carrot Cake Smoothie tastes like your favorite carrot cake dessert but is made healthy with carrots, bananas and Greek yogurt and is topped with walnuts and shredded coconut! This year, I want to focus on including some seasonal recipes on my blog. Since Easter is early this year, I decided to make a recipe that reminds me of Easter in March. Easter is my very favorite holiday because of my family traditions associated with it and the food that we made annually is awesome. Carrot cake is one of my very favorite desserts. I love the dense cake along with the sweet but slightly tangy cream cheese frosting. I will always think of carrot cake fondly because it used to be my Great Aunt Emma's specialty. When she was coming to an event and was going to make something, we always requested her carrot cake. Sadly, my Aunt passed away in 2014 and we miss her and her German ways. I was so lucky to get the recipe from her for my wedding shower where my mom had everyone bring m

7 Ways to Enjoy the Evening with A Toddler

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. # SnuggleUpMoments #CollectiveBias When moms get together, they talk. They talk about how tired they are, breastfeeding, feeding their kids, diapers, tantrums, etc. One thing that I notice that moms talk about a lot is how difficult the evening hours can be with their kids. This is often the time that babies, toddlers and older kids are bored, tired, hungry, etc. They often want to be held and may be whiny or even may be crying. Now that Adalyn is a little bit older- almost 18 months- we have truly embraced these evening hours and truly enjoy them. Troy and I both work so the afternoons and evenings are the time of the day that we have to spend with Adalyn. Therefore, we make those hours count and spend a lot of quality time together having fun. The evening hours right before bed are some of my favorites of the day and help bring us closer together as a family.

Ask the RD: Vitamin E

When I first decided to become a dietitian, one of the topics that interested me the most was vitamins and minerals. I loved learning the benefits that each vitamin and mineral provided as well as the foods that they were found in. That is how I decided that I wanted to study nutrition! Through my schooling, we delved deeper into this topic and I enjoyed learning all about it. Today, I am going to discuss vitamin E .  Vitamin E is an antioxidant that helps to protect the body tissue from damaging substances known as free radicals.* These free radicals can damage cells, organs and issue and cause oxidative stress in the body. Vitamin E helps to protect against this.

Castaway Bay Indoor Water Park + Giveaway!

Until now, I had never really been to a big waterpark. When I saw a review of Castaway Bay on another blog, I knew that I had to go. Castaway Bay is a huge indoor waterpark in Sandusky, Ohio that is right by Cedar Point. There is so much to do and it is truly like a full resort. We arrived Saturday late morning and did not leave at all until we checked out the next day. You could not check into your room until 4 PM but are allowed to go the waterpark early. We got changed in the locker room and went right to the park. Seeing my daughter's eyes right when we walked in was my favorite part. At just 17 months old, she got so excited and was not scared at all. We started out in the toddler pool which was perfect for her. It was only about a foot deep which was perfect for her to walk around in. There are a couple of slides in this area that were perfect for her. We brought my sister along with us which was so fun. We had one person stay with Adalyn and two people go off toge
