Green Salsa Verde is ready in 15 minutes and is loaded with flavor. Filled with fresh tomatillos, garlic, onions, cilantro and lime juice, it is sure to be a favorite sauce!
Tomorrow is our annual party and I cannot wait. I am making three appetizers myself: pizza dip with homemade breadsticks, veggie cream cheese pizza and this amazing salsa verde with tortilla chips.
To make it easier, I stocked up on most of the ingredients earlier in the week. I picked up JaM Cellars wine to serve with our party. I also made this salsa verde the day before to make less work the day of the party.
Until about a year ago, I was not a fan of salsa verde- I know, I was crazy! Luckily, a switch flipped and I am obsessed with it! I make my own red salsa all the time and when I saw fresh tomatillos at the grocery store, I knew it was time to try my own homemade green salsa.
It was super easy to make and turned out so good. I am using this green salsa verde on everything! Tacos, eggs, with chips, etc. So, so good!
Green Salsa Verde
Cook Time: 10 minutes
- 1 1/2 pounds tomatillos, husked and halved
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 5 garlic cloves
- 1 jalapeno, finely diced
- 1/4 cup cilantro, chopped
- Juice from 1 lime
1. Turn broiler on high and on a baking sheet, lay tomatillos, onion and garlic. Put under broiler for ~5 minutes and then flip over veggies and cook another5 minutes. *Watch carefully that it does not burn. You want vegetables to be charred but not totally burnt.
2. Add all ingredients to the food processor and blend until salsa is the desired consistency you like.
*Store in refridgerator for up to a week or two.
