Brown Sugar Oatmeal Baked Apples

Brown Sugar Oatmeal Baked Apples are the perfect warm and filling breakfast! They taste like dessert but are healthy enough to eat anytime. We have been making baked apples for as long as I can remember. Growing up on my parent's farm, we often had tons and tons of apples (if the apples grew well that year). We would mostly eat them plain because we all love apples. Or we would make apple sauce to can or freeze. Mom would make apple pies for the holidays. The other recipe we made with Dad's homegrown apples is baked apples.

5 Breakfasts in 5 Minutes or Less

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Tyson Foods Inc. All opinions are entirely my own. Now that my husband and daughter are back-to-school, the mornings are busy for us again. Breakfast is so important to start your day off on the right foot, and Adalyn and I always make sure to have a nice breakfast together. Troy often needs to help students before school since he is a teacher so he often has to get out of the house pretty early. He will take his breakfast on the go or eat something quickly that he can heat up in the classroom.

Mixed Berry Smoothie
September 28, 2017

Mixed Berry Smoothie

Mixed Berry Smoothie is just three ingredients, takes 2 minutes to make and is loaded with strawberries, blackberries, blueberries & raspberries for the perfect snack or meal! I'm certainly not complaining because I am thrilled to be staying home with the kids and blogging but doing both of these jobs at the same time is hard work! I get up at 6 with my husband and he goes and gets ready for work right away. I come right downstairs and get to work on my computer and hope to get in an hour of work before the kids wake-up. Most days, I get about 30-45 minutes in before I hear a little voice calling "Mommy!".

Did you know that it is Hispanic Heritage Month? Because I am part of a Hispanic family, my husband, daughter, son and I make sure to celebrate. Troy is of Mexican descent, so we love celebrating heritage in our household and often talk about different nationalities and cultures that make up families like ours. I am mostly Polish and German so we make sure to celebrate those nationalities as well.

5 Fun Things We're Up to This Fall

We have been enjoying the fall so much! I am working from home for the first time ever and love being home during the day on  beautiful days. The weather is still hot here in Michigan and I am loving it. Towards the end of August and beginning of September, we did have some cool weather that had us pulling out sweaters and pants on 40-something degree mornings.  I wanted to share some of the fun things that we have been doing this fall to give you an idea of things to do:

9 After-School Snacks for Kids + Giveaway

This post was sponsored by Nabisco as part of an Integrated Activation for Influence Central and all opinions expressed in my post are my own. Adalyn is a huge snacker and all day long, says to me, "Mommy, I need more snacks!!". I am quite a snacker too so I make sure to stock our house with lots of snacks for the two of us. Overall, I try to keep our snacks quite nutritious but allow for some treats as well. Sometimes, snacks are as simple as plain carrot sticks or sometimes, it may involve a homemade baked good. It just depends on time, what we have on hand and what we feel like eating. **Keep reading for a Walmart gift card giveaway! When Adalyn comes home from school, she is always hungry! Here are some snack options for kids that are fun and that they will love:

The Best Products of 2017 Part 27

1. Meez Meals You know I love trying meal delivery services and this one was different than the others. It allows you to choose your meals like the others which is nice but it does not require a subscription. You can just order what you like whenever you want it. Also, the meals do not require a ton of prep and chopping. For example, the carrots, celery and onions all came in a bag diced and I just had to cook everything which saved a lot of time.

Adalyn Grace is 3!

My baby girl is turning 3! Life is so good with my little best friend that never stops talking. Adalyn started 3 year old preschool a couple of weeks ago and it is going so well! She is such a social butterfly and is super outgoing. She is rarely scared of anything (except jumping into a pool).

Breakfast Tacos with Fresh Tomato Salsa

Breakfast Tacos with Fresh Tomato Salsa are ready in 10-minutes and are filled with scrambled eggs, black beans and homemade, flavorful salsa made with garden fresh tomatoes! This post was sponsored by CafĂ© Bustelo ®  as part of an Influence Central campaign and all opinions expressed in my post are my own. This week, I've been craving something that I don't normally crave as much: savory breakfasts, particularly those with salsa and eggs. We have eaten some variation of this breakfast three times this week and I totally plan on making something similar again tomorrow. I love making Mexican-style breakfasts and this one is super tasty.

How to Raise Dogs and Kids Together

Before we had Adalyn, Jaxen and Ava, our mini dachshunds, were our babies. They were and are everything to us. I remember being so nervous about how the dogs would like the new baby. When we came home from the hospital for the first time. The dogs were jumping up like crazy to meet Adalyn but had a bit of a rocky start. Jaxen is the scared dog- he is pretty much scared of his own shadow. Ava is mean to kids and grows when they are around. This has made it difficult at times raising them all together.  We never wanted to have to get rid of our dogs so we have done things to make it work for the kids and the dogs. Now, we have two kids and Ava is still funny with Adalyn so we pretty much keep them apart but Jaxen is much better with Adalyn. Both dogs are pretty nice to Oliver right now- Jaxen loves to give him 10,000 kisses right on the mouth of course. Adalyn's favorite thing to do with the dogs is walk them and give them dog treats (especially Milo's Kitchen home-style dog

1. Home Chef Meals I absolutely love trying different meal delivery services and this was our first time trying Home Chef. Stacked Chicken Verde Enchiladas

I have been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and Tecate. All opinions are mine alone. The following content is intended for readers who are 21 or older. #CollectiveBias #TecateBornBold #Tecatepartner Stacked Chicken Verde Enchiladas look impressive but are easy to make! Loaded with chicken, bell peppers, beans, vegetables and salsa verde in corn tortillas with melted cheese. Though everyone is back in school already, outdoor entertaining is not over quite yet! The weather is still nice here in Michigan and I'm going to entertain outside as long as I can before the weather gets colder. A few years ago, I made a tortilla stack that was so delicious and I shared it on the blog and then never made it again. Being a recipe developer, sometimes, I forget about some of the awesome recipes on my site.

Customizable Baked Oatmeal Cups

Customizable Baked Oatmeal Cups

Customizable Baked Oatmeal Cups make an easy and filling, healthy breakfast that is perfect for busy mornings and totally customizable with your favorite toppings! I love baked oatmeal! I usually make it in a pan but today, I decided to make it in muffin cups which are perfect for back to school. This is our last year of having no kids in school but still, mornings are busy around our home. Troy and I both work and getting out the door quickly is hard. These customizable baked oatmeal cups are perfect for those days that you or your kids need a quick breakfast that is both healthy and delicious. My daughter (age 2 1/2 at the time) was not the biggest fan of oatmeal. When I showed her these, I told her that they were muffins and she loved them. Her favorite part was choosing her own "muffin" to eat.

How to Earn Rewards on Everyday Purchases

Thank you CreditCards.com for sponsoring this post. Visit CreditCards.com today to find the right card for you. I was 16 when I got my first credit card. It was linked to my dad's account but I had to pay the bill with the exception of things like medical bills and a light allowance for clothes twice a year. My parents taught me about money and saving when I was little and by the time I was old enough to have my own credit card, I was mature enough to know how to save money and not go crazy spending.

Caramel Apple Ice Cream
September 12, 2017

Caramel Apple Ice Cream

Caramel Apple Ice Cream is a healthier take on traditional ice cream and is made with Greek yogurt, kefir, sauteed cinnamon apples and a drizzle of sweet caramel! I always forget how nice the weather is in the fall. In my mind, once Labor Day is over, the weather gets cold. That is not true of course! The fall in Michigan is a beautiful time of year. There are lots of different events going on and the weather isn't too hot to do them. I love visiting an apple orchard, finding different Halloween events and going to some of Troy's high school football events.

Our Favorite Summer Adventures

This has been the best summer of my life! I was going to write a post about it but SURPRISE: I quit my job and transitioned to blogging full-time and staying home with the kids. I'm thrilled! Since Troy is a teacher, that means that we have the whole summer at home together. Almost every single day, we went on an adventure and had so, so much fun as a family! Troy is now back to work and I am missing our time together (though he gets home at about 4 PM so really, we can still do things).

All opinions are mine alone.  #MomentsShineWithWindex  #CollectiveBias If you have followed my blog or social media for any period of time, you know that I love to have little photo shoots with my kids. It is something that I love to do for a couple of reasons. I like to have the photos as memories, I think my kids are so cute so I love to look at pictures of them (haha) and I have that mom guilt that time passes so quickly so I need to capture every.single.moment! Since Adalyn is starting school, of course we will be having a first day of school photo shoot just like most parents on the planet. I have three years of experience of taking pictures of kids and I wanted to share some of my kid photo shoot tips.

The Best Products of 2017 Part 25 + Giveaway

1. KIND Bars I love to snack on different bars and one of my very favorite bars are KIND bars. I have been eating them for years and now, they come in many different kinds. The company sent me a variety to review and I've been loving trying the different flavors. I love the ones with 5 grams of sugar because they still taste sweet but I like that they are not packed with sugar. I had not tried the KIND Fruit Bites before and really enjoyed them! I love dried cherries so the cherry and apple ones were great. The peanut butter dark chocolate and dark chocolate cinnamon pecan are some of my favorites. Not pictured but I have ordered the maple glazed pecan and sea salt from Amazon and love those. I like KIND bars because they are nutritious, come in a variety of types and flavors and are a good source of protein and fiber. These make a great snack! **Keep reading for a KIND Bar giveaway!
