I do not drink many cocktails (I prefer wine) but absolutely love mojitos. The tangy lime flavors along with fresh mint are just perfect in my book. When I saw the idea for a green mojito smoothie on Pinterest, I was all about it. So like any recipe I make, I made it my own by using the ingredients that I like and have on hand.

I used kale in this smoothie for an extra boost of vitamins A, C and K. I used frozen pineapple because it gives a sweet flavor without adding sugar and is easy to find frozen. I wanted this recipe to be dairy-free and not to be very creamy so I skipped the milk and added orange juice instead. You could also use juice or tea.

Of course, to give the smoothie a mojito flavor, I used fresh mint leaves and whole limes (peeled). This smoothie turned out perfect! It takes 3 minutes to make and is filling and delicious. Smoothies are a great way to pack in some nutrients. They are great for breakfast, a snack, dessert or even to go along with a meal. If you want more protein, you could add some protein powder. This smoothie is very tart so if you like a sweeter drink, add honey or use less lime and more fruit.

I also got to use an ingredient that I have not used on the blog before: hemp hearts! Hemp hearts are tiny hemps seeds that have a light nutty flavor. They are good in smoothies, salads, yogurt, oatmeal, etc.

One serving of hemp hearts has 10 grams of protein and 10 grams of omegas. They are great in this smoothie and sprinkled on top for a little crunch! I used the hemp seeds from Manitoba Harvest for my recipe and loved them.

Hemp Heart Bites
Along with the hemp hearts, I got to sample some Hemp Heart Bites which my daughter loved. They are about the size of a Starburst and perfect for little hands. My daughter likes snacks all day long so this snack is perfect for her because they are filling and healthy. They are great for snacking on the go and not messy. For a serving of 8 pieces, there are 10 grams of protein! A healthier and simple snack for my little one.
