Date Night at The H Hotel- a beautiful hotel in Midland, MI with delicious food, a pool and hot tub and more! Troy and I are celebrating 15 years together! Wow, time flies. For an early anniversary celebration, we spent a night at The H Hotel in Midland, MI. It was an awesome short trip that was a perfect staycation. Just 2 hours from the Detroit area, it was a quick getaway.
A family winter getaway to Bavarian Inn Lodge in Frankenmuth, Michigan! Lots of pools, hot tubs, water slides, putt putt golf, a delicious chicken dinner and more. We recently had the amazing opportunity to visit the Bavarian Inn in Frankenmuth, Michigan. I've been visiting Frankenmuth my entire life. My family would go about once a year together and we would have the classic Bavarian Inn chicken dinner together. I thought that I had never stayed at the Bavarian Inn lodge but after being there, I remembered going there for a friend's birthday when I was about in middle school. I can't wait to tell you about our amazing trip to Frankenmuth!
What to do, where to stay and what to eat on a couples getaway to Traverse City, MI! Lots of hiking and beach ideas for the adventurer. Troy and I just took our first couple's only getaway to Traverse City, MI. It was our 12th wedding anniversary and after everything with the pandemic, a year and 3 months of homeschooling my kids, a flood in our home and then the death of our sweet dog Ava, we needed something happy in our lives. We had the BEST trip and if you have not been to Traverse City yet, I highly recommend it.
The best swim school: Goldfish Swim School and how we are teaching our kids to swim with Goldfish swim lessons! In January, we re-enrolled in Goldfish Swim School. We took about a 6 month break due to having baby Lily and it being about a 40 minute drive each way. Just a little bit too much of a commitment with a newborn. When Lily turned 6 months old, I re-enrolled Adalyn and Oliver at Goldfish Swim School Macomb and I couldn't be happier.
The best things about the Detroit Zoo in Royal Oak, Michigan! Why you should get a membership and why it is amazing for kids (and adults). Since Adalyn was born over 4 years ago, we have been members of the Detroit Zoo located in Royal Oak, MI. The zoo is about a half hour drive from my house and we visit there frequently. The Detroit Zoo is open year-round and we love visiting during all seasons of the year. Some of the best days to visit the zoo are when it is cold out actually since the animals are often more active when it isn't hot. Today, I wanted to share some of the reasons that we love the zoo.
The kids have been enrolled in Goldfish Swim School for three months now and it is going amazingly well! Adalyn is 4 1/2 and has learned so much in terms of swimming at Goldfish Swim School and Oliver is turning 2 and is in the baby class with Troy and is learning water confidence and basic skills.
It's almost fall! It's the best time of year for produce at The Farm. What's The Farm? If you are a long time reader of The Nutritionist Reviews, you may remember that my parents have a farm in the thumb of Michigan that we visit regularly. It is about 1 1/2 hours from our house and is an awesome 92 acres of land. My dad rents much of the land to a farmer who farms soybeans, winter wheat and corn on rotating years. We love taking a trip up there for the weekend and enjoying the beautiful nature.
My family and I just got back from a trip to Mackinac Island and it was so memorable. The kids and I went with my mom in the spring which was my first time there since 4 th grade and after being there, I knew that I had to come back with Troy. He loves history and nature and Mackinac Island is a great mix of the two. I want to share some things about our trip to Mackinac Island with you today!

Troy and I just got back from the best date night at MotorCity Casino Hotel. This was our third time there and it was our best trip yet. The last time we went, I was 36 weeks pregnant with Oliver and while it was fun, it was a little different as I got tired so easily then. I really feel that we got to maximize our time there, ate delicious food, I got to relax in the best bathtub and we got some really nice time to reconnect.
I'm freaking out! We are headed to the Ann Arbor Princess Ball on May 12th in Plymouth, Michigan and my daughter is going to absolutely LOVE it. I know that I've mentioned it before but Adalyn literally dresses up as different princesses all day long and changes her costumes all through the day. She sings all of the different princess songs and when she gets to meet different characters, it is her favorite thing in the world. When I saw that all of the princesses are coming to town for this special event, I knew that we had to go! The show is put on by Princess Pros Entertainment and will be at the Inn at St. John's with some of the best princesses. There will be dancing with Cinderella, hula with Moana, making a craft with Rapunzel, singing with Elsa, learning etiquette with belle, getting your face painted and more. It will seriously be Adalyn's dream day!

Have you been to the North American International Auto Show before? I was once back in 2007 and cannot believe that I haven't been since. In fact, I have never been with my husband (we met later that year) and he is obsessed with cars! Finally, we will be visiting this year and I cannot wait! The show is January 13-28 and is open to the public from January 20-27 2018. Admission is from 9 AM to 10 PM most days. Tickets are $14 per person for adults, $7 for seniors 65 and older and $7 for children 7-12. Children 6 and under are free with an adult.
We visited Traverse City last year for the first time and fell in love. During the trip, we were already planning our trip back. That's how you know it was a great trip. Prior to about June, I didn't plan any trips for us this summer because I didn't know how life with a newborn and a toddler would look like. Luckily, we were blessed with the most chill baby on the planet making traveling with him a breeze (well, mostly). When I realized that we may be able to travel with a young baby, I got super excited and planned a trip back to one of our favorite destinations: Traverse City, MI.
We recently got to try Moe's Southwest Grill and I wanted to share some of Moe's healthy options and what to order for a Moe's healthy order. Troy and I love to go out to eat at what we call "in-between restaurants". Not quite fast food but not quite sit-down meals either. The kind where you order at the counter and can choose options for your meal. They seem to be a little nicer quality than completely fast-food but are still affordable and you get your food pretty quickly (which is important with young kids).
Tips for the best places in the Grand Rapids area to eat, stay and play! I recently had the chance to visit the Grand Rapids area like we did in the fall. We were invited to check out the renovations that the Residence Inn Grand Rapids West completed since our last stay there and decided to make a family trip around it. Troy's dad and step-mom joined us and it was Oliver's first vacation staying in a hotel. We had the most wonderful trip and I cannot wait to return again. We visited Grand Rapids, Comstock Park, Grandville, Fennville and Saugatuck during our trip which are all within ~45 minutes of Grand Rapids. We stayed in Grandville and went out for most of the day and had some rests during the day for Adalyn.
A few weeks ago, Troy and I had the wonderful opportunity to spend the night at MotorCity Casino Hotel located in Detroit, Michigan. We stayed there for a night last January and fell in love with the place and wanted to return for a special night out. With our second baby due so soon, it was the perfect babymoon for us within half an hour of home. This time, I wanted to experience different aspects of the hotel than we had before and we got to do just that.
Having grown up in Michigan, I have always heard of Grand Rapids. When Troy and I lived on the West side of the state, I did a 5 week dietetic internship at one of their hospitals there and got to love the city. I have attended a few blog events there in the last couple of years and finally got to go for fun with my family.
I've heard about Ludington, Michigan for years for their camping and just finally got a chance to visit. We were not really sure what to expect as there was not that much information about what to do in Ludington online. This is my summary of Ludington: gorgeous beaches, amazing nature trails and great for relaxing. Ludington does not have a ton to "do" in the traditional sense of lots of attractions but if you are looking to relax and enjoy nature, Ludington is a good place to go. There were tons of extended families there with grandparents, children, grandchildren, Aunts and Uncles. I think that lots of people got hotel rooms next to each other or rented houses in the area which would be so fun to do with family.
About a month ago, I took one of my favorite trips that I have ever taken. I brought along my sister, husband and daughter and we drove about 6 hours up north to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. We have been talking about doing this for literally, 9 years and finally made it happen. We figured if not now, then when? I planned the trip to the UP and we had such a great time. We stayed in Munising, MI which was close to a lot of the falls. We started not too far into the UP at Tahquamenon Falls. These were must-see falls because they were big and beautiful and had an upper and lower falls.
Life is busy and in order to get everything done, sometimes, I take shortcuts. I am constantly trying to learn new shortcuts such as meal prep, grocery shopping during my lunch break, cleaning up for 10 minutes after dinner to avoid big cleanups, etc. I found a new way to save time that I am excited about sharing with you! It is called Google Express . Google Express helped us to save time so that we have more time for Saturday family activities which is so important to me. Instead of spending Saturday running errands, we get to choose a fun activity to do together. There is nothing like family time!
